  • There's just something about this museum that keeps me coming back. There's something almost 'hallowed' about seeing old aircraft on display as they are here. The history, the stories, the memories. U...  more »
  • It was cool to see so many but not worth the money if you aren't a plane aficionado. We went an hour before closing and it was luckily free.  more »
  • We enjoyed our visit to the Aviation and Space Museum and found it to be very interesting. We visited both the hanger and the museum. The overflow and the planes that aren’t in perfect condition are s...  more »

  • My dad flew Lancaster Bombers in WWII. As my dad was dying I promised him I would take his grandson to this museum which he dearly loved. It's got a Lancaster Bomber there, and I was able to get my son into the pilot seat with the assistance of the museum folks for a one time shot - which I will not ever post cause ppl bent the rules for a Vet's family that night. Love this place. Thanks for your utmost kindness. When I come to Ottawa I always come here, thank you so much. I carry the heart of this place in my heart.
  • Really cool exhibit on planes and aviation. Lots of planes to see, similar layout to the Warplane Museum in Hamilton. Space exhibit is cool but only a small part of the museum which wasn't really advertised as such. Neat interactive elements and helpful and knowlegable staff. A bit of a excursion to get here with nothing around it but a neat detour of a museum.
  • A big, open, clean museum that is perfect for avid readers and airplane enthusiasts. They have a great collection of restored aircraft, and the plaques are well-done, if a tad too enthusiastic about Canada's aviation accomplishments (a few too many "considered among the best in the world" lines on those plaques, folks). For others, however, I see only modest value. Take this with a grain of salt, but a modern museum really needs more interactive space. Consider that they have all these massive helicopters, but all you can do is look at the outside rather than opening the doors and displaying the interior from a viewing platform. Or when describing a radical change in propeller technology, only having a static display rather than a more interactive demonstration of the science behind it. Flight is an amazing thing that has captivated our imaginations for centuries. Surely that can be showcased more imaginatively than merely showing these hulking (and impressive) pieces of technology in a static setting? Informed guides doing demonstrations would be an immense help, as would a variety of immersive activities, like trying to start a WWI prop engine, sitting in a replica "cockpit" of the first flying machines (or a design-your-own section for the kids?), and so on. These are all things I've seen elsewhere, and would add a lot to the fun, rather than mere homage to technology.
  • The company party was held here. Didn't know we could have a museum for a Christmas party venue. It was spacious and clean. The only complaint was the person making the announcements could not be understood because of the echo.
  • What a fantastic place to visit. They closed the whole place down for a corporate convention and put food and drink bars throughout for our dining pleasure plus a live band. What an awesome night!
