  • What a wonderful afternoon having tea in the garden at Billings Estate. This is a once a year event, it is fun as we all dress up, wear our hats and our fascinators. The tent is set-up with round tabl...  read more »
  • Attended an outdoor wedding here. The grounds are beautiful. They serve high tea. Probably would not have come here if not for the wedding as there are so many other things to see and do in Ottawa.
  • Loved it and will go back. We went on a rainy day so we couldn't appreciate the grounds fully. Also we want to experience the tea service. But let me tell you this house is special. The history is so ...  read more »
  • My friends got married at Billings Estate Museum this past weekend, and I was a part of the set up crew the morning of. While the grounds were amazing and the wedding went off very well, the billings staff were not pleasant to work with, save for 2 individuals who were specifically assigned to our event (they were great). The rest of the staff were not approachable, were unkind and when needed, very unhelpful. With every wedding comes some chaos and confusion at the beggining, especially during set up, and at every moment that the staff there could have stood out and been helpful, they did the opposite. Just one example, when we showed up to bring the alcohol and ice for the night, they said there was reserved room for us in their fridge (which was part of the contract) and it was currently empty and did not need to be used for any other event, but we couldn't use it until hours later. Even though it would stand empty until then and we were the only event happening there that day. Arbitrary and very unhelpful. With some convincing and common sense, they let us use the fridge and freezer space saved for us, but with extreme attitude and annoyance. This type of thing happened a few more times, and I was really shocked at the lack of professionalism coming from people employed to represent the estate. Would not recommend this spot to someone hosting an event, especially if you would expect any help from the grounds owners or staff.
  • Jane Austen tea was a delight.
  • An oasis in the heart of the city, the estate is essentially as it was when the founding family died out in the mid 1900s. The museum is a fascinating glimpse into the recent past (how times have changed, and soooo quickly!), and the park is a peaceful place to relax and let the kids run about. In the summer you can get an authentic (home made) high tea or cream tea under a canopy and pine trees in the backyard, served by volunteers in period garb. A fun outing.
