Located nearby Canada’s Highway 3, Spotted Lake invites you to experience the unusual sight of vibrantly colored spots atop a body of water. Framed by hills, most of the lake’s water evaporates during the summer and reveals colorful mineral deposits on its bed. It contains a rich concentration of various minerals, including magnesium sulfate, calcium, and sodium sulphates. The large spots, which are found when water is present, are colored in accordance with the mineral composition below.   • While we were able to stop here and see the lake, there is little parking and only a sign with information about the lake on it. They are planning an expansion of the parking however which is necessar...  more »
  • Closed at the present time due to work being done to renovate the road down to the park and to make more space for parking and trails. But had a nice peek from right off the highway  more »
