Located nearby Canada’s Highway 3, Spotted Lake invites you to experience the unusual sight of vibrantly colored spots atop a body of water. Framed by hills, most of the lake’s water evaporates during the summer and reveals colorful mineral deposits on its bed. It contains a rich concentration of various minerals, including magnesium sulfate, calcium, and sodium sulphates. The large spots, which are found when water is present, are colored in accordance with the mineral composition below.
