La Stella Winery, Osoyoos

4.2
#3 of 6 in Wineries in Osoyoos
Created to capture the vision of la dolce vita – paying homage to the Italian ways – LaStella boldly stepped into the spotlight in 2006. Just as a symphony has its tempo, so do the musically inspired LaStella wines: Leggiero, Vivace, Allegretto, Fortissimo, and Maestoso. Situated by Osoyoos Lake in the South Okanagan Valley, at the northernmost tip of the Sonoran desert, LaStella’s commitment to winemaking excellence is its driving force. Low input viticulture and non-interventionist winemaking philosophy is what has lead to their rise and sought-after following. Their award-winning wines are available nationwide and internationally at select culinary hot spots, gastronomical institutions and fine wine merchants.

A symphony for the senses.

The La Stella Winery with its red tiled roof, creamy walls & timber beams & grape arbor looked like it had been plucked out of Tuscany & relocated in the Okanagan Valley. There were lovely views of th...  more »

I adored this winery. Great, friendly staff and amazing wines. Beautiful tasting room and the patio is perfection. I would highly recommend this hidden gem.

The winery itself was very pretty with amazing view but the service was garbage. The lady pouring the wine was very snobby. I told her i never been to a winery and asked how it works... she replied "you have never been to a winnery?" it was a sarcastic tone of voice that made me feel uncomfortable. they also have a sign that says if you buy $40 worth of wine they waive the $10 tasting fee, so i did. at the till she said i would actually have to buy $80 since i was with my wife. Just the whole experience with her made me feel bad, my wife felt the same way, she was not inviting or nice. very bitchy thought she was all that, we left soon after we arrived. i wont be coming back there that is for sure. if that lady is not the owner she needs to go, if it is the owner learn some customer service manners.

Great experience, and that moscato d'osoyoos is worth every penny!

Great tasting experience. The wine is excellent, and they've become one of the more famous and successful wineries in the area. Climb up the tower and check out the views of Osoyoos lake. They also let us walk through the vineyard and taste a couple varieties of grapes. Interesting to see the differences in the grapes themselves.

I love the outdoor seating area and that they brought the tasting out to us (it was slow so may not always be available). Staff were extremely knowledgeable. I enjoyed that they poured some of the more expensive reds. Pack a picnic and enjoy a cold bottle of their pinot grigio and the view.

Where to stay in Osoyoos

Privately run hotels, beach resorts, inns, and motels make up the majority of accommodations available in Osoyoos. The most desirable of these sit between the town's two lakes, offering panoramic views and easy access to beaches on either shore. If you want to immerse yourself in the scenery away from the town itself, head northwest up Route 97 Highway--there you'll find a selection of bed and breakfasts, perched on the hill overlooking Osoyoos Lake.
