Burrowing Owl Estate Winery, Oliver

(3.9/5 based on 260+ reviews on the web)
Treat yourself to first-class food and wine at Burrowing Owl Estate Winery. Guided tours lead you through the whole winemaking process, from grapes to oak barrels. After seeing the facility, head up to the tasting room to try a few wines and enjoy the view overlooking the valley. The winery has a big reputation, and may seem a tad busier and less intimate than some of the smaller, family-owned operations in the vicinity; try to avoid weekends if you don't like crowds. With our online itinerary creator, Oliver attractions like Burrowing Owl Estate Winery can be center stage of your vacation plans, and you can find out about other attractions like it, unlike it, near it, and miles away.

  • Lorna hosted the 5 of us to a great tasting session and gave us a great insight into the plight of the Burrowing Owl and how this winery is assisting this delicate creature.
  • Don't miss this great winery. Beautiful facility and outstanding people in the tasting room. Would definitely visit again.
  • Of all wineries in the region we visited, this one is certainly not the most discreet, but beyond the size (a little bunker) of the building, it has the advantage of really being in the middle of the vineyards, and the simple but effective Vault allows you to taste the wines. The view is as enjoyable as the ballad between the different grape varieties that surround the building.

  • Very well made high quality wines. The only drawback is the high price point but you get what you pay for. Their cabernet sauvignon and syrah are among my favourites.
  • We visited here while on a bicycle winery tour for a quick tasting. The winery is in a spectacular location. The views are absolutely stunning. The staff was very friendly and polite. The winery has a bit of a "resort" feeling to it with a big pool area, complete with loungers, tables/umbrellas and a hot tub. That may be a pro or a con depending on what you're looking for.
  • I can't believe the audacity of this business....they plowed over the last breeding site for burrowing owl in BC so they could plant grapes for your dining pleasure. This is the 21st century-we should know better. I encourage everyone I can to boycott all BC wines as they're grown on the last of our precious Great Basin Desert ecosystem and Burrowing Owl Vineyards is the most graphic example of our selfish arrogance. They should be charged under the Species at Risk Act. So sad... (yes, they donate some paltry funds to it's recovery but does that excuse the deplorable activities of the recent past?)
  • Ordered a vegan dish Ask only to put some vegetables with some of there lentils in olive oil. They forgot our olives appy dish. They brought the smallish entre vegan dish. Tiny amount of asparagus plus 1 cup of lentils l.The manager asked if we had reservation for a vegan meal? Really the first question to ask a customer. What a terrible experience and there pretentious attitude is inexcusable.
  • not a wine drinker so can't comment on their wines, but the service and food in the restaurant was fantastic. for the non wine drinkers try their lemonade to drink.
