Burrowing Owl Estate Winery, Oliver

3.9
Treat yourself to first-class food and wine at Burrowing Owl Estate Winery. Guided tours lead you through the whole winemaking process, from grapes to oak barrels. After seeing the facility, head up to the tasting room to try a few wines and enjoy the view overlooking the valley. The winery has a big reputation, and may seem a tad busier and less intimate than some of the smaller, family-owned operations in the vicinity; try to avoid weekends if you don't like crowds. With our custom trip planner, Oliver attractions like Burrowing Owl Estate Winery can be center stage of your vacation plans, and you can find out about other attractions like it, unlike it, near it, and miles away.

  • Amazing food and great service. The winery offered some very good wines. The lunch was very tasty. In particular the braised beef Mac n cheese was amazing. I highly recommend this property.  more »

  • What a magnificent winery. It almost feels like you are in a far away land. From the Spanish style villa to the road that leads up to the main building. These features all add up to for unique experience. I would highly recommend this stop for any wine aficionados, the big reds offered at this place rival the best of the Okanagan.
  • We arrived at the restaurant roughly a quarter to 1 in the afternoon on a holiday Sunday, asked if we had reservations which we did not. They would not be able to seat our party of 4 until 2pm. We waited by wandering around. Stopped back at 1:45 pm to see if a table was available, were told again 2pm sharp. Seated at 2:05. Were waited on fairly promptly. We ordered our food, 3 mains and 1 appetizer. Small portions, good flavor but the appetizer was little more than a plate of garnish and they charged $17 for something that looked like a "sneeze in a plate". They also charged absurd amounts for their own wine which they don't have to even ship or market it. I think they think this is downtown Vancouver and they are a five star restaurant which they are not.
  • Had a great visit with awesome friends. The 3 nights accommodation was absolutely fabulous and the breakfasts extremely tasty and very varied. Greg and Engala in the Sonora Restaurant went above and beyond to make our dinners super special!
  • My girlfriend and I stopped in for a tasting and tapas. We had a poor experience overall. The woman serving us in the tasting room was giving us canned descriptions and short answers when we asked questions about their wine. Our tasting was under 5 minutes long and we like we were being rushed to finished. To top it off, she started filing her nails. As we headed to the dining room, we had just missed our window for tapas. We waited for dinner service. We stood at the entrance, and were not acknowledged for a couple of minutes. With a sour taste in our mouths, we decided to take our business down the road — to Black Hills Winery (try the ratatouille pizza and charcuterie board). With so many great wineries in the area, we highly recommend exploring the area before defaulting to Burrowing Owl.
  • Delicious food, the sauces are incredible but it’s definitely pricey for the food. Don’t like their wines. But beautiful winery with a gorgeous view.
