Lake Superior Provincial Park, Northeastern Ontario

4.7
#3 of 18 in Nature in Northeastern Ontario
Lake Superior Provincial Park is set on what is widely considered as one of the largest bodies of fresh water in the world. Explore the park along the northeastern shores of the great lake, affording opportunities for hiking, fishing, canoeing, and camping. Keep your eyes peeled for the larger animals, such as bears, moose, and grey wolf, and be sure to see the Agawa Rock Pictographs, possibly drawn some 400 years ago. • A definite highlight of our trip across Canada was our stay here at Agawa Bay. After a long days drive we arrived just in time to have a beer whilst watching the sun set over the lake; a beautiful sig...  more »
  • I can honestly say that this is one of the most beautiful places in Ontario! The wilderness is absolutely surreal & I still reminisce about it daily, even after three months. We stayed in Agawa Bay du...  more »

  • Stayed in a site right on the beach, which was absolutely gorgeous. The radio free loop is great if you're looking for a quieter experience, as we were. There are great hikes in the area, and mosquitoes are not nearly as much of a problem as they are in most other lakeside provincial parks. Just make sure you have all the supplies you need (including a full tank of gas) beforehand, because it's a long drive to any stores. I look forward to coming here again.
  • Hands down the most beautiful Provincial Park I ever camped at and one of the most beautiful sites in all of Ontario that I've experienced. Just stunning. Had an incredible camp site close to the lake - and the stars at night were unbelievable. Will definitely be returning someday to experience this again. Out of all the Provincial Parks I've visited, I recommend and rate this one the absolute highest. A MUST see!
  • I have visited many, many provincial parks, but this is by far the most beautiful of them all. The sheer amount of nature around you at all times is absolutely stunning.
  • Beautiful quiet place to relax and enjoy. Lots to look at and learn about. Large wheelchair accessible washrooms. Love the boardwalk.
  • One of my favorite places to camp and backpack. Beautiful area and very friendly, helpful rangers.
