Castrol Raceway, formerly known as "Capital City Raceway Park", "Capital Raceway", "Labatt Raceway", and "Budweiser Motorsports Park", is a multi-track auto racing facility located just south of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Located on land leased from the Edmonton International Airport, the clay oval opened in 1991 and the dragstrip opened in 1992. The facility went into receivership at the end of the 1997 season. It was purchased by Rob Reeves and ten other local racers and businessmen; it re-opened in 1998. Several of the investors have opted out since 2000 but do remain on as advertising sponsors of the facility. The track is now owned by Rob Reeves and Ron Hodgson. The facility features an 8,500-seat ¼ mile IHRA-sanctioned dragstrip, and a 4,500-seat 3/8 mile clay oval. There is also a pro motocross track, a mini-sprint car track, and a 2.7 km road course which opened in 2013.The biggest event currently held at the facility is on the drag strip. The annual IHRA Rocky Mountain Nationals is the sixth of twelve national IHRA events held in North America. The second largest event at Castrol Raceway was held on the Oval track. The Oil City Cup featured the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series. The World of Outlaws competed in Edmonton from 2007 - 2015.

  • Very good facility. Road course is in excellent shape and pad/trailers and seating is well maintained. Great spot for our city.
  • We came right at 5 on a Sunday night, so essentially waited for 5 minutes to get on the track. Lovely, unique display that the older kid could see from her car seat. If the baby had been away he would have only been able to see some of the displays. Bit pricey, but as a treat for the holidays, not too bad.
  • We drove with friends through their Christmas decoration they advertised on TV. Well. For asking $25 each car, that was very poor entertainment and waste off money. Walk for free through a European Christmas market and you get 1,000 times more lights - and again - it's free of charge. Not mentioned the smell of cotton candy, roasted almonds, sugar apple's, bratwurst, Gluehwein... That's something you never forget.
  • We went and saw the Christmas lights at Castrol Raceway. They were awesome! Very well done.
  • It was nice to see the lights, but definitely it was not worth $ 25.00 dollars. Also it took us over 30 minutes to get to the payment area. We thought they could have improved this event much better.
