Bird Kingdom, Niagara Falls

4.3
#4 of 244 in Wildlife in Ontario
At Bird Kingdom, the biggest indoor free-flying aviary in the world, you can watch the exotic colorful birds feed and play in a multi-level rainforest. Start your journey by travelling back in time at a mysterious old museum, then head to the explorer's base camp and interact with flamboyant parrots, red herons, toucans, and other exotic birds. Take in the panoramic views of the gorge while the smallest of the winged creatures flap their wings above. The night jungle houses owls, bats, and various reptiles, including turtles and frogs. The kids will love digging for treasure at the children's archaeology section. Be sure to check out the original hand-carved teak wood structure from 1875, which is the only Javanese house in North America. The cafe offers snacks. Our family visited here in 2006 and really enjoyed it then. We came back this August 8th 2017 with our now teenage children. The building, displays, and plants all have a wonderful tropical feel, howe...  more »

My grandson really seemed to enjoy it here. Admission to the place is somewhat pricey for what you see. For two adults and a 5 year old it was $50. I know verything costs up there but this was a bit m...  more »

This is the best attraction in Niagara Falls! It might be the best wildlife viewing experience I've had, and I've done the zoos in most major American cities. If you love birds, like birds, or are even mildly interested in birds, you and your family will have a great time at Bird Kingdom! They also have an entire exhibit full of Egyptian Fruit Bats, which was cool to see. And this is one of the rare places where the gift shop is worthwhile. I would have bought a ton of stuff except I was flying and knew most of it wouldn't fit in my carry on, or even a checked bag. Seriously, you owe it to yourself to check out Bird Kingdom while you're in Niagara. Dry off from the boat ride and then head straight to Bird Kingdom.

It's a nice diversion from the other touristy things that there are to do in Niagara Falls. It has a nice collection of birds and you have an opportunity to have your picture taken with a red and green macaw and/or feeding the lorikeets. My guys loved it! I'd love to show the pictures but I'm not sure there is an infringement issue. They were well done.

My fiance and I went this past weekend and it was a great experience! I'd recommend anyone to do this, especially if you have children. The scenery is stunning, the birds and animals are so cool and it's like being on a tropical country! The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. I especially enjoyed holding one of the beautiful parrots! You can purchase a picture of you holding the bird st the end of your visit. There is so near history about Niagara Falls as well as some other exhibits too! There are stairs here and I didn't inquire if they had an elevator. Please call ahead to plan your trip if you have some special needs.

Always worth the visit when you are in Niagara falls if you like birds or animals. Everything is very well kept, staff is caring. Baby the bird is my favourite. Look for him by his sweet dance moves.

Amazing collection of different birds. Vary colorful and it's indoors but they have created great environment for birds. Takes about 2 hours to roam around. You are allowed to take pictures which is the best part of the visit, can take some good memories back.

Where to stay in Niagara Falls

The city bordering Canada's most famous attraction offers a wide range of accommodations, with competition keeping prices surprisingly low. You'll pay a premium for views of the falls, with most of the prime real estate right by the star attraction controlled by major international hotel chains. Most sit along Niagara Parkway, which fronts the river. If you're looking for something nearby but still affordable, check the options along Victoria Avenue--you won't have a view of the falls, but you'll be just minutes from the spectacular attraction.
