Bird Kingdom, Niagara Falls

4.3
#2 of 330 in Wildlife in Ontario
At Bird Kingdom, the biggest indoor free-flying aviary in the world, you can watch the exotic colorful birds feed and play in a multi-level rainforest. Start your journey by travelling back in time at a mysterious old museum, then head to the explorer's base camp and interact with flamboyant parrots, red herons, toucans, and other exotic birds. Take in the panoramic views of the gorge while the smallest of the winged creatures flap their wings above. The night jungle houses owls, bats, and various reptiles, including turtles and frogs. The kids will love digging for treasure at the children's archaeology section. Be sure to check out the original hand-carved teak wood structure from 1875, which is the only Javanese house in North America. The cafe offers snacks. • Fantastic place! The main aviary is amazing. Incredible detail in re-creating a tropical like forest with plants, streams and cozy areas for the birds :) feels like you are adventuring into the forest surrounded by lost ruins remains all wrapped up with vines and birds flying around. Absolutely a must visit and perfect for a family trip. About 1/ 1.5 hours to visit everything and enjoy the place.
  • The animals appear really well looked after and happy, the staff must be doing a great job. The place is immaculately clean, well organized, the birds and reptiles are amazing. I recommend this place for the family and even small children! they will be enthralled and will remember what they see. The staff will offer to take pics of you but you must buy them at a jacked up price after upon leaving, beware of that. Otherwise, great staff, beautiful space. Go for it!
  • What a fantastic place! Don't be put off by the hokey entry. The animals are well cared for, you get chances to hold and feed birds for no extra charge, and there are many different species. It is all wheelchair accessible. Get there at 2 and follow the feeder around. Staff are friendly and informative. The main aviary is spectacular. The birds are not shy. A beautiful place to spend an afternoon.
  • Absolutely fantastic!! I have not visited in about 10 years, but I was blown away by how much better everything is today and how incredible our visit was. (So much so, I purchased a years pass). The staff were all very friendly and approachable and talk about knowledgeable! Told us so much about everything. I really enjoyed hearing the stories about each bird, what their personality is like, how they relate to other birds and to humans and how they ended up getting a home here. We spent four hours on our visit last week and I'm going again today. I visited in February on a week day, The place was bright and clean (not "smelly"...some of these other reviews are utter fabrication) and a beautiful old building. All animals were well taken care of, lots of information available, great collection of antiques and curiosities too! Highly enjoyable!!!!
  • Beautiful birds, great way to spend an afternoon. Yes there also bats, fish, snakes, frogs, and a turtle or two. But without a doubt the birds are the real stars of the show. The tropical birds are just breathtaking and they are displayed to perfection with the backdrop of an indoor waterfall. Don't forget to bring your camera, you're going to need it. Anyone who visits Bird Kingdom will be as impressed as I was. You can bet I will be back. It is worth a second visit for sure.
