Kilborn's gets its name from John Kilborn. In the 1830's, the present day dining room, Stirling Lodge (also located in Newboro), was his home. During the war of 1812, he obtained the rank of colonel, which was the highest rank then available to a member of the militia. He was captured by the Americans, and subsequently escaped to eventually take residence in Newboro.

  • Apart from being the 'other' best shoe-shop in Ontario, Kilborn's has wonderful one-of-a-kind furnishings and decor items for your home or cottage. It has a Christmas room, open all year, a great selection of designer cruise wear and seasonal clothes, and did I mention shoes? Kitchen set-up (not large appliances) , baking, cooking, towels, dishes and again, decor items, as well as a selection of sauces, rubs and additions that will give you the edge in BBQ season. There is also an array of wonderful boots and a noteworthy area filled with equestrian riding togs. So it's an everything store, and there is a restaurant next door too. It's folksy and easy, the people are lovely and Kilborns is worth a look at any time of year, even if you don't need shoes 👠👡👢👟👞.
  • It's fun for a rainy day but pricey and overly cluttered with not much in the way of local or regional products.
  • Great place to spend the afternoon. A gem in the country...come all the way from Ottawa.
  • Never seen so many unique types of jams relishes etc in one pkace !
  • One stop shopping.. great staff.. all helpful and fun
