  • Loved how the sections are laid out depicting Nanaimo History and the artifacts that are displayed making it an enjoyable trip down memory land. Great items in the gift store that is attached too plus...  more »
  • Went with the kids and had a great time. Should maybe have someone keeping an ey on small children who like to touch stuff though. Seems to be an accident waiting to happen.  more »
  • The Museum is not due to the price (2 CAD / adult), but because of the whole institution. The room has many corners, that's something new to the discover there. There are also things to touch, read or interactive prompts, so that you can choose in the coal mine itself, what you want to hear. Small and fine, and much to the watch.

  • Nice little museum with displays on the history od Nanaimo. Especially liked the coal mine simulation. Would be neat for kids.
  • This museum has some neat displays in the history of Nanaimo. It also has a small art gallery of Lawren Harris
  • Great museum. Well laid out, not cluttered, and very informative. I've visited a couple times. It's very affordable at $2 for adults. Be sure to listen to the Raymond Collishaw audio.
  • I visit once or twice a year. The mine exhibit is good but so are those on the whole history of Nanaimo. The special exhibits are usually well worth a visit. And the extra-curricular stuff like the Father XII tour are excellent. And the entry price ($2?) can't be beat.
  • A great museum for a rainy day, especially considering the VERY reasonable admission fee ($2/adult). There's a nice variety of interesting artifacts in the permanent collection. The immersive exhibits (the coal mine and the general store) are pretty neat too! My mom particularly enjoyed the Centennial Stories featured exhibit.
