Upper Canada Village, Morrisburg

4.5
Step back to a bygone era during a visit to Upper Canada Village, a heritage park and museum. Modeled after a 19th-century village in Upper Canada, the site features over 40 historical buildings, including working mills, trade buildings, and farm houses, all open to look around and see the "locals" at work and play. Watch demonstrations of different agricultural and commercial processes involved in farming, cooking, and smithing, and get to know certain aspects of contemporary culture as costumed staff discuss concerns of the times, such as politics, social life, and religion. • Eco-Museum on our road to Toronto, we decided to stop there. We travel a few hours in 1860: everything simply magical! It is a restored village with lots of activities and stagings. We stayed there for 4 hours but unfortunately we could not see everything. As we must make choices, I really recommend this visit both couples, that families and seniors, it worth it (even for 4 hours of visit). Few people speak french (but plan in french), but even with a very succinct English we can understand.

  • A great place to day trip. This place is very educational. It is oriented more towards kids and school tours but still very fun to stroll around for adults and learn a little bit next to some great traditional food and their official beer is excellent.
  • Very well organized. Lots to see and enjoy. Many attractions for adults and children. Make sure to come here when it's a good weather. When you buy a ticket for UCV you will get a free entrance to Fort Henry within 24hours which is worth doing. There are few nice spots here to rest and have a lunch or drink. Also the gift shop has some unique treasures. Definitely recommend visiting this place.
  • Despite the cold, we enjoyed our visit. We started with a sleigh ride, walked in the streets, stopped by and sang along in the church (felt like choir singers). We finished our visit with the toy train ride. The colors were amazing and the staff awesome!
  • Pumpkinferno 2017 was 'lit' - literally. Very well organized, gorgeous carvings, great ideas and a lovely layout. We stopped in the restaurant for a hot chocolate and ended up purchasing buttery arts as well; they were scrumptious! Washrooms were decently clean considering the night's traffic. One piece of advice: purchase your tickets ahead of time! We were able to skip the longest line by doing so. I will definitely return for their Christmas and future events.
  • The light show at the evening was beautiful. Wish it was a little warmer though. Recommend for all ages. Everyone will have a wonderful time. Free horse ride too.
