Western Development Museum - Moose Jaw, Moose Jaw

Specialty Museum Museum
Discover Saskatchewan's transportation and farming machinery history at Western Development Museum - Moose Jaw. The museum started in the mid 1940s, when modern technologies began to render much of the farming machinery obselete. Tour the collection to see restored heritage displays, including railway cars, local aviation, and snowbirds, as well as a number of curiosity pieces. Look out for the museum's calliope: this steam musical instrument resembles a piano and produces sound through a system of whistles using steam--one of only two operating examples in Canada. • Wow! Soooo much stuff to go through. You don't realize how big it is inside until you've been there for 2.5 hours and still have plenty more displays to see. My favorite part was the restored bush planes, some real beautiful pieces to see. I would visit again!
  • Would have really liked to have gone to this as the website states open 0900-1700 Monday to Sunday. They are only open Tuesday to Sunday. Fix the website!
  • Great museum. Amazing collection
  • We were in town for the train show for our third year! Love the show and had a blast!
  • Good collection of old car, plane, boats and even trains. If you are near by and need to learn more about the history of transportation in Canada then this is the place to be.
