Western Development Museum - History of Transportation, Moose Jaw

4.4/5 based on 130+ reviews on the web
Discover Saskatchewan's transportation and farming machinery history at Western Development Museum - History of Transportation. The museum started in the mid 1940s, when modern technologies began to render much of the farming machinery obselete. Tour the collection to see restored heritage displays, including railway cars, local aviation, and snowbirds, as well as a number of curiosity pieces. Look out for the museum's calliope: this steam musical instrument resembles a piano and produces sound through a system of whistles using steam--one of only two operating examples in Canada. • Getting older it is almost disturbing I can remember seeing some of this stuff on our family farm. Good afternoon at a reasonable cost, lots of free parking.
  • Lots of different vehicles, boats, and trains, with some good local history as well. Kids really enjoyed it, especially the outdoor train ride.
  • Fun thing to do to get out the house while visiting.
  • Went after the holidays with my fiance. He loves the museum, but I was skeptical. Thought it was marvelous!! Spent an entire afternoon exploring and taking pictures
  • Good family fun.
  • A large collection of (mainly) unique vehicles from Saskatchewan. I go back once-twice a year with my Son. They have special events that worth to visit as well.
