Tunnels Of Moose Jaw, Moose Jaw

(4.4/5 based on 800+ reviews on the web)
Explore the underground world of Tunnels Of Moose Jaw, a historic labyrinth of subterranean pathways now open for tours. Constructed in 1908, the tunnels originally acted as an underground steam system, though they soon became abandoned. Escaping persecution during the Yellow Peril, or prosecution during a round of government-led head taxes, many Chinese railway workers and their families would hide in the tunnels, with whole families forming an underground community living in horrendous conditions. During the 1920s, the tunnels were central to local rum-running operations, with Al Capone believed to have visited at some point prior to his 1931 conviction. Two tours, one relating to Chinese immigrants and the other to the prohibition era, operate with convincing sets, artifacts, and staff members in character. • We did the Chicago Connection tour and it was fantastic. The tunnels are a cool interconnected maze and our actors played their parts perfectly. Highly recommended.
