Historic Site Tourist Spot
Explore the underground world of Tunnels Of Moose Jaw, a historic labyrinth of subterranean pathways now open for tours. Constructed in 1908, the tunnels originally acted as an underground steam system, though they soon became abandoned. Escaping persecution during the Yellow Peril, or prosecution during a round of government-led head taxes, many Chinese railway workers and their families would hide in the tunnels, with whole families forming an underground community living in horrendous conditions. During the 1920s, the tunnels were central to local rum-running operations, with Al Capone believed to have visited at some point prior to his 1931 conviction. Two tours, one relating to Chinese immigrants and the other to the prohibition era, operate with convincing sets, artifacts, and staff members in character. • We did the al Capone tunnels and they were great. It is like a walking interactive play through history. It made me laugh several times. The tunnels are not that great for claustrophobic people.  more »

  • Awesome tour.. went on it years ago when I was a kid and brought my girlfriend here last week and she loved it.. the actors are excellent and the tour is short but great
  • Cute little tour that is quite interactive. The Chicago Connection tour gives a good overview of the prohibition era, informative. Expect a simulated experience.
  • Great history shown in an engaging way. The Chinese immigrant experience was really eye opening. The kids (13 to 16) said that they found it interesting as well.
  • A great immersive way to learn about history. The actors were great, and they involved you in the story, which did have a tad bit of suspense. Definitely recommended
  • We went as a school and I found that everyone Loved it! TBH Chicago Connection was better. =]
