  • The Expo 67 exhibition really gave you the sense of what it was like to be there. The virtual reality segment really blew me away. The rest of the museum gives a great overview of colonial Montreal an...  more »
  • Everything you wanted to know about old Quebec and especially Montreal. From pre-colonial times to the 20th century, you can see it all here. A great mix of artifacts, modern displays (I love the dior...  more »
  • If you go on the Ste-Hélène Island, don't miss the Stewart Museum. It is a very good complement to the visit of the Château Ramezay. If you have already visited the Castle you get 50% discount on access to the Museum (and vice versa). A floor of the Stewart Museum is more oriented on the great explorers who discovered the American continent. Another floor speaks of the birth and the development of the Canada. We really found the interesting super Museum. We visited on a Sunday morning, and we were lucky enough to have a guide virtually than for us.

  • Excellent museum in a historic structure. Exhibition spaces are very nice, and the Expo67 exhibition is excellent. Available walking tours are worth it. Small gift shop area, but with reasonably priced items that you can't find elsewhere.
  • This is a fun, pleasant small museum. It's clean, well lit and well laid out, and VERY family friendly. We went on a weekday in winter, so it was also very quiet. Saw the 'Curiosities' and 'Old Fashioned Games' exhibits, both of which were interesting. Our two-year old had a pretty good time, but a 6-12 year old would really have a blast here.
  • Excellent exhibit about Expo67, with VR experience and lots of videos. Not to be missed!!!
  • This was nice history museum to check out during the winter holidays. It was not too busy and you can see all the different exhibits without it using up a lot of your day.
  • Such a nice place. There were few people there when we went which was nice. But the staff was very well informed and genuine about their love for history.

Where to stay in Montreal

If beautiful architecture and views over the water appeal, stay in the historic neighborhood of Vieux Montreal (Old Montreal), where you'll be a stone's throw from the best attractions in the city. If modern convenience is more important to you, look for accommodations in the downtown neighborhood of Centre-Ville, or head a bit farther out to the artsy district of Plateau Mont-Royal. LGBTI visitors might want to consider staying in The Village, Montreal's famously progressive hub of gay and lesbian culture.
