Île de la Visitation is a small island in the Rivière des Prairies, part of the Hochelaga Archipelago, and part of the city of Montreal in Quebec, Canada.Located within the boroughs of Ahuntsic-Cartierville and Montréal-Nord, the island is the site of a nature park, as well as the remaining buildings of the historic Sault-au-Récollet district. The island also includes the former hydraulic installations, l'île du Cheval-de-Terre, which is connected to Laval by the Rivière des Prairies generating station, as well as a wooded area left intact along the Rivière des Prairies.L'Île-de-la-Visitation Nature ParkThe nature park, located on Île de la Visitation, was established in 1984 during the renovation of the Rivière des Prairies generating station. It has an area of 34 hectares. The footpaths along the shore allow for walking and offer views of the Rivière des Prairies. The paths that once allowed biking now have 'no-biking' signs and warn of a $40 ticket. Biking is allowed on a small part of the western end of the island. • Great nature retreat in the center of a bustling city. Secluded away from the city noise , Wanna have a day or a evening away from stress, visit this place. Fishing , dam, cycling trail, scenic. Love it. Been here a million times and never got frustrated. Will visit again.
  • Very nice park. It is more nature/forest like. All in all it is a very nice place to have a hike or ride your bike or have a barbecue.
  • Great place to hike, bike, picnic and spend the day relaxing. The place is not far from montreal or Laval. One of my favorites parks in Montreal.
  • It's so close to the city, just a bus ride away but it feels that you are lost in the country by the river side. Perfect for walks and picnics
  • Beautiful park along the Montreal back river. Unfortunately it's a litter bin and as the milder temperatures kick in its a haven for drugs and prostitution. Bodies are regularly recovered from the park.

Where to stay in Montreal

If beautiful architecture and views over the water appeal, stay in the historic neighborhood of Vieux Montreal (Old Montreal), where you'll be a stone's throw from the best attractions in the city. If modern convenience is more important to you, look for accommodations in the downtown neighborhood of Centre-Ville, or head a bit farther out to the artsy district of Plateau Mont-Royal. LGBTI visitors might want to consider staying in The Village, Montreal's famously progressive hub of gay and lesbian culture.
