This is one of our favourite activities on nice weekends. This park offers many activities for families and singles alike. Really, this is a portion of a Saint Lawrence river parkland that extends bet...  more »

Just after completing a small narrow path trail built on a former dam where once the time children practiced their first dives we enter an extraordinary garden with wild flowers where the roses and lilies like to compete in beauty. We breathe the heady scents while is lulled by the current of great intensity similar to the tutti of a great Symphony. Sometimes a fisherman or a poet to the vague look scrutinize the horizon no matter if a fish is approaching or if the word occurs in the poem.

What beautiful park! Kilometers of greenery along the River with in the background the Lachine Rapids. You can walk there on foot or by bike. Many benches and picnic tables are available. Ideal for families or groups. A nice place to view wildlife and to escape for a few hours from the excitement of downtown!

Beautiful Parks Canada bird sanctuary, be respectful towards the geese and you will get some very memorable photos and if you're lucky a very up close view of these beautiful birds. Land bridge leads over to the Machine Rapids where there are multiple benches and picnic tables, wonderful views of the rapids themselves as well as a week crafted and maintained park area with flowers and trees which enhances the experience. Definitely worth the trip and the time to see a wonderful gift from nature. The washrooms are located in a nearby public stage, but, they are a bit of a disaster sadly.

Where to stay in Montreal

If beautiful architecture and views over the water appeal, stay in the historic neighborhood of Vieux Montreal (Old Montreal), where you'll be a stone's throw from the best attractions in the city. If modern convenience is more important to you, look for accommodations in the downtown neighborhood of Centre-Ville, or head a bit farther out to the artsy district of Plateau Mont-Royal. LGBTI visitors might want to consider staying in The Village, Montreal's famously progressive hub of gay and lesbian culture.
