Japanese Garden, Montreal

4.5
#10 of 39 in Parks in Montreal
Any time of the year, Japanese Garden offers a quality time spent among beautiful plants. Designed by the late Ken Nakajima, an acclaimed Japanese landscape architect, and opened in the summer of 1988, the garden makes a favorite relaxation spot for both locals and tourists. After overcoming the initial challenge of caring for plants from a different climate, the garden continued to bloom and add new species every year. In winter, some of the more sensitive plants get moved inside, but during the warmer months you get to experience all the garden's glorious smells and colors. Relax with family and friends, or have lunch in the park’s restaurant and enjoy the atmosphere. Put Japanese Garden into our Montreal tour itinerary planning site and find out what's close by, where to stay, and where to head next.

  • Just magical Japanese garden with a super Zen vibe. Very well maintained. We believe in Japan and not in Montreal

  • This Place is awesome, it really has a lot that you can not fail to see. You Can See an infinity of flowers, plants, even a beautiful lake. All the variety and maintenance it has is impeccable, wonderful it looks new all over. Super careful, I Love the peace that is in this place, also throughout the Botanical. A must to spend several hours in the whole route, where you can eat

  • The City of Montreal and Hiroshima were sister cities, so the information on Hiroshima was substantial. I will not forget the carp bag. There are a variety of plants planted around the pond. I realized that maple leaf and maple are very different plants. There are also undulating and impressive. The garden is narrower than the Chinese garden, but very beautiful.

  • The Japanese garden is one of the three spots when you go through the Garden of Lights. The views are incredible and make you feel that you are no longer in Montreal. The Garden of Lights event is not year-round but if you do go, it is preferable to go when it’s completely night time as the lights will take full effect on the scenery.
  • A beautifully layed out oasis that showcases and highlights nature in all its facets. First time seeing the lantern exposition and loved it. Everything was like walking though a fantasy world.
  • Very beautiful.. Nice architecture.
  • Was there for the fall lantern display. Great autumn walk in a great hidden gem in the city ❤
  • Great place , was awesome walking in 60 degree weather and beautiful gardens. The bonsai and other exhibits are well done and maintained. Would highly recommend a visit here... especially the Japanese garden and the roses.
