Port Credit, Mississauga

4.6
Take a walk through Port Credit, a neighborhood located in a scenic position next to a lake. Sitting where Lake Ontario and Credit River meet, the district has historically been separate from the city. Although it merged in the 1970s, the neighborhood still retains a pleasant village look and feel, with local independent stores, squat buildings, and plenty of open space for recreational activities and nature exploration. Stroll along the boardwalk by the marina, stopping off in the small eateries and bars, and gaining extensive views of the lake and the river. Where to stay in Mississauga

Mississauga is best known for housing Toronto's airport-- most of the city's accommodations cluster just a few minutes from the terminal. If you're looking for a place to rest before your flight, you'll find a range of options on Dixon Road, to the north of the airport, or on Eglington Road West to the south. Don't expect much character--your options include mid-range chain hotels and basic inns, with little else on offer. You can find a handful of business-oriented hotels in the city itself, mainly located around Burnhamthorpe Road.
