Unsworth Vineyards, Mill Bay

#8 of 21 in Wineries in Vancouver Island
Unsworth Vineyards lies nestled in the foothills of Mill Bay, surrounded by pasture, minutes away from the Pacific Ocean. The winery’s pristine Cowichan Valley setting provides the perfect coastal climate for growing some of the world's finest and most unique wine grapes. Panoramic views, a relaxed ambiance and seasonal entertainment combine to make Unsworth Vineyards a desirable place to linger.

Next to the winery’s tasting room, a 115-year old farm house has been beautifully renovated to accommodate the award-winning restaurant, showcasing the best of local Vancouver Island fare. The terroir-focused cuisine is the ideal complement to Unsworth's fine wines.

At Unsworth Vineyards, visitors and locals alike are invited to explore the terroir cuisine of the Cowichan Valley— and the local farmers that make it possible— through cooking classes, chef’s discussions overlooking the vineyard, and garden tours among the heritage apple and walnut trees in the winery’s orchard.

  • Always enjoy visiting this top class winery. The winery produces some of the best red and white wines in the Cowichan Valley. My favourite red is their Symphony which I always put down for 5-6 years. ...  more »

  • We were slightly taken aback when we arrived 45 mins till closing to a nearly completely empty dining room. We were told we should have made reservations and were turned away. If you are committed to eating here make sure to make reservations. Otherwise check out the other places around that are more capable of seating an impromptu meal.
  • Everything about Unsworth is great. The staff, building, yard, food, prices; all very good! I'd recommend the burger. You must try this spot.
  • Beautiful setting for visitors from out of the valley. We take friends and family here when they are touring Vancouver Island. Wonderful tasting room and lovely gardens.
  • The food is tasteful sizes. me and my friend ordered 3 small dishes and a desert. Very nicely done. Amazing food ! Amazing rose wine. Had a knowledgable server, he was amazing. Nice cute little place. I reccomend.
  • The food and ambiance were wonderful. The gnocchi, beet salad and duck were fantastic. Very highly recommended. The prices were very good except that to buy a bottle of unsworth wine was $50 in the restaurant and $25 in the tasting room across the parking lot. It makes you feel a little ripped off
