Balloon Ride · Tour
Your Hot Air Balloon adventure begins when you meet your Pilot and Flight Crew. The morning flights meet approximately a 1/2 hour before sunrise and the evening flights approximately 2 1/2 hours before sunset.

At the launch site, your flight crew will brief you on your upcoming balloon adventure. Then, you will watch with awe as your balloon takes shape before your eyes, ultimately standing more than 10 stories tall. Once fully inflated and ready for take off, you climb into the gondola and begin the adventure of a lifetime.

During your flight you will get a spectacular bird's eye view of the area and will drift silently over the city and countryside where you will watch for wildlife and talk with envious onlookers down below. After drifting serenely for approximately an hour we prepare for landing.

Once on the ground, we share in the oldest of ballooning traditions, a champagne toast and revel in the peace, tranquility and beauty that you never before knew existed.

For ballooning we require light winds, good visibility and no precipitation. We fly at approximately 1000 feet above built up areas, but will come down to touch the tree tops or skim across the corn fields if we are out in the countryside. The flights are approximately 1 hour in length, however we do require you for up to 4 hours in total for the entire adventure.

Since we fly with the prevailing winds, our flight patterns and landing sites vary due to the changing wind directions. There is no wind chill and very little feeling of movement or sensation of height.

Due to insurance restrictions we cannot accept passengers under the age of 10, women who are / or may be pregnant, or those with heart, back or knee problems. If you have any questions about these restrictions please discuss them with one of our Customer Service Representatives.

Private chartered flights are also available. Please ask for details on how we can make your special day even more memorable.

Should your flight be cancelled by Sundance Balloons due to inclement weather conditions, you simply will need to call our office and reschedule your flight.

  • We flew out of Waterloo rod and gun. Mark was our pilot. What an incredible experience. The crew was so helpful and understanding for the seniors onboard. The crew made sure everyone had an unforgettable trip. You truly have to experience the flight to understand the magnificence of the view. Thank you Mark and team❤️
  • My husband surprised me on my birthday with a hot air baloon ride. Our pilot was Mark and he did a fantastic job. He made the experience really fun and we had a text book landing! I also appreciated the attention to safety and making sure the weather conditions were appropriate for flight.
  • We flew out of Waterloo rod and gun club and our pilot was Mark. He was absolutely amazing, I can't even begin to describe the incredible experience from start to finish! The whole crew was amazing, the flight was beautiful. It was a surprise birthday present and it was truly the best thing I have experienced in a long time. Highly recommend to anyone!!!! Hoping to do it again one day.
  • I gave up trying to get into the air after 5 or so flight schedules missed over I think a couple years. If an airline cancels your flight do you not have some priority to get on the next flights? Not here. You go to the back of the line and hope the weather is ok when you are at the front of the line again a month later or so. Yes you eagerly await the excitement of the flight. But that makes the repeated cancellations all the more frustrating.
  • I am soo disappointed, my son bought the tickets for us in May for Mothers Day me and my 2 kids, I paid the extra so we could go in the evening, so we were not missing days off work that were rescheduled, I realize for our own safety but I think paying $950.00 in May 2018 and after 8 reschedules we now are into April 2019, is a bit much. My son was so happy to surprise me with this and it is only been a complete disappointment.
