  • Love Silverdale. I've checked out a few ranges, and none touch Silverdale by a long shot. A lovely drive from the city, a gorgeous out door frame range. Safety is clearly first and foremost, but the RSO's are decent, pleasant (as long as you don't cross them or circumvent the rules) and fair. Family owned which is a plus, you can tell they actually care about the range and its facilities, and the owners actually live on site. The membership process is straight forward, sensible, and not so obtuse as to be daunting, yet a all inclusive enough as to show that they care, and for its members to be fully equipped with the right knowledge so that you can be safe, enjoy yourself, and not get yourself booted of the range. Silverdale is a lovely place.
  • The range is great, if slightly confusing and most of the staff was helpful and patient. Adding a map for visitors would have made today almost perfect. The price is good and the shooting options are unparalleled in Southern Ontario.
  • This is my 1st outdoor range to shoot at targets and really enjoy it here. Went there once as a guest and joined up as soon as a opening came up. Very friendly staff and helpful as well. One of the RSO's seen i was having issues lining up a new scope i bought and got me set up so i was on the paper and not just throwing lead.
  • It's hard to find shooting ranges that allow drop ins from guests. Silverdale is a great place to go if you're not a member of a gun club and you live in the GTA. The range facilities are well maintained, and monitored by range safety officers (RSO). The RSO's are very friendly, but more importantly they do a good job enforcing safety rules. Definitely will be coming back.
  • The range is a great place to shoot. The range officers are great overall and tend to be very aggressive with safety rules especially with new shooters, or visitors to the club as they should be for safety reasons. . However, I walked in there as a visitor to sight in my rifle which was great. I later decided, since I was there, that I would shoot a round of trap. I will mention that I shoot trap competitively and I'm a member at a trap and skeet club that does not have a rifle range which is why I was at silverdale. While at the trap station I was corrected by a ranger officer on a safety rule. I simply made a comment and said "ohh OK no problem, sorry the rules are little different at the club I'm a member at". This guy started yelling at me freaking out saying the rules are the same everywhere. I looked at him calmly and said "I'm not giving you an attitude, I'm simply saying the rules at my club are a little different and I have no issues following your rules here". He was a real tool this guy, and I will mention he yelled at about three other people as well. I finished my round and left. The way silverdale conducts there trap station is very unsafe, and that range officer would loose his job where I shoot and compete. Yelling at people constantly is a real safety concern, not the stupidity he yelled at me for. A range officer consistently flipping out on people causes stress and tension which does NOT mix well with loaded firearms. He also seemed more concerns about paying attention to the young ladies then paying attention to safety. As well, people shouldn't be able to gather and stand around close by shooters as if it's a social event. The area should be clear of distractions unless you're a shooter - this is distracting and unsafe. Unless silverdale assesses the way this guy handles issues, a safety incident will most certainly happen there.
