Victoria Park, Kitchener

Nature / Park Must See
Spend a day in the oldest park in the city at Victoria Park. The park not only has a history going back to the 19th century, but it also offers plenty of features. A picnic shelter offers a place to eat, or take the kids to the playground and splash pad. Others may want to make use of the horseshoe pit or basketball court. A historic clock tower adorns one of the entrances. The park’s pavilion, which the city rents out for special events like musical performances, is a must-see. • Great place for a relaxing bike ride, a refreshing walk, you could even go kayaking in the little river there! I like this park, it gets you away from being in the city. Sometimes I feel trapped in cities but parks like this help me escape! :) Plus there is usually something fun going on! The day I went there was bubble soccer happening on the open field, so I tried that out for a bit and had a blast! Way more fun than I expected to have in the park. I hope Bubble Battle comes back to this park because I will definitely be there for it! And weddings are almost always going on in this park too. Great place!
  • The Park is maintained in the summer but not much in the winter. The walkways are always covered in goose poop but the park is full of animals. The basketball court is excellent but the hoops have double rims so watch out to see the perfect swish be the worst miss. The basketball court could be mainted better by painting lines and picking up trash. Overall best park in Kitchener.
  • This park is a beautiful horticultural space. There is parking available but it's limited. There is a substantial children's play area with swings, play structures, and a splash pad that operates during warm months. The trails are paced and there are 2 sets of public washrooms, including accessible family/ gender neutral washrooms. It is a great place to walk or bike around, with lots of seating and open areas for sports, picnic, and play. The City of Kitchener holds lots of different festivals and events here during the summer. There are gazebos, and building spaces that can be rented for parties, weddings, and other get togethers. It's wonderful!
  • Great place for kids. Lots to do! Just some rougher people hanging around
  • Fantastic place, a true family park with natural beauty, parking space so far Ok but on special occasions difficult to get.

Where to stay in Kitchener

For a relatively large city, Kitchener doesn't offer a particularly broad range of accommodations. In the city center, King Street offers a handful of mid-range hotels, but little beyond that. Your best bet is to look southeast to Centreville Chicopee, where you can find a cluster of chain hotels, or northwest to the adjoining city of Waterloo, which offers some nicer hotels by its main park.
