Create an itinerary including Cedar Creek Conservation Area
The Cedar Creek basin is probably the most significant, most extensive, and most beautiful natural area in the Essex Region. Contributing to the beauty of this area are the Carolinian woodlands, rolling landscapes, creeks, tributaries and abundant wildlife. Be inspired by the sight of eagles soaring, herons and egrets wading, and turtles sun worshiping on logs, along with American Lotus, Swamp Rose Mallow and other superb flora and fauna. This Conservation Area includes a canoe/kayak launch and provides one of the most stunning routes in the region for paddling.

  • You can launch a canoe here or fish but you'll only catch Bullheads. The occasional carp. Be prepared for the OPP or the Ministry though. They stop frequently. Have your fishing license available...

  • Great place to put the kayak or canoe in if you are comfortable with using a standard dock. Only 1 picnic table that is chained to a tree, but a beautiful place to picnic. Grass is over grown. Poison ivy growing on the stairs to the dock. Not much parking as it is a very busy place. But the experience on the water is amazing! Cant wait to go back!
  • Beautiful area. We went kayaking out to Lake Erie, just gorgeous. Walked the trails. Great little spot.
  • As an experienced hiker I can say it was was rather interesting how little it was tamed in certain areas with trails being rather natural. If you like natural trails, this is one of the few places in the area you can do that. If you want to actually know where the trail is then this is not for you. I'm telling you, the trails are virtually non existent.
  • Honestly, it was our first time there and I don't know why, but I guess I expected it to be better. To be more going on. It was just a typical walk through woods. Nothing else really interesting. doubt we'll ever be back.
  • I have to.go again to review if I like or not. We went late April and.it was infested with tick, so we barely went in before turning back..because it was all over my doggie
