Correctional Service of Canada Museum, Kingston
(4.6/5 based on 550+ reviews on the web)
Gain some insight into life behind bars at Correctional Service of Canada Museum, located across from Kingston's penitentiary. Housed within the former warden's quarters, the museum displays improvised weapons, tools, and other items created by prisoners themselves with the most minimal of supplies. Former prison guards guide you through the exhibits, telling you stories of elaborate escape plans and contraband operations. Photographs, replicas, and other displays deepen your understanding of what life here was like, for both the guards and the inmates. • Since we couldn't go on the Kingston Penitentiary tour (booked for weeks), this is the next best thing and all for the price of a voluntary donation. Saw interesting exhibits and even a mock-up of old...  more »

  • Some good information here. Some of the prisoners contraptions are wild. Good addition to kingston pen tour.
  • Interesting artifacts/memorabilia, well informed staff, well organized displays
  • Pretty good museum. Takes around an hour to get through everything. Run by volunteers. No cost but donations welcome. Definitely worth it if you're already in Kingston. This isn't the penitentiary tour but rather a museum located in the old Warden's house.
  • Interesting museum with different exhibits and good educational experience for my kids.
  • Very cool museum, free entry, donations accepted, very informative and eye catching
