Kakabeka Falls, Kakabeka Falls

#9 of 209 in Nature in Ontario
Marvel at the second-highest waterfall in Ontario, Kakabeka Falls--aptly nicknamed "The Niagara of the North." Situated on the Kaministiquia river in the eponymous provincial park, the waterfalls plummet from a height of 40 m (130 ft). Easily accessed, a large boardwalk surrounds the river basin, so you can enjoy a scenic view of the powerful cascades. Drive or hike up to the viewpoints, explore the area's pristine nature, and admire the waterfall tumbling over the tall cliffside. • The falls were impressive & the walkway and picnic tables were a nice break from being on the road in Northern Ontario. I would not go here as a destination getaway although there was a campground nea...  more »

  • Must see attraction when passing thru on the Hwy. Falls is actually 2 feet deeper than Niagara Falls, but doesn't have the volume of water. Not illuminated at nite, and parking is congested at times. ...  more »

  • It might not quite be Niagara but this is still a very impressive waterfall. It's also not flooded with tons of people, bars, restaurants and tacky amusements like Niagara. Parking is cheap, the trails are extensive and overall, the setting is great. Definitely worth a visit to see a true slice of Canada.
  • Amazing vistas just west of Thunder Bay, Ontario. About a half an hour away on the left. Just past the town of Kakabeka Falls, Ontario. The falls are an incredible photo opportunity all year long. Great photos to be shot in the summer and winter. There‚Äôs also camp grounds on the far side of the Falls. There will be a fee payable as you drive into the parking lot.
  • Spent many days here growing up. The view never gets old. The campsites are super beautiful and the staff are extremely friendly!
  • This is a place where words cannot describe how beautiful it is I don't know how Nature has carved this place but thankfully it did because I would go back again
  • The falls was beautiful and stunning. Has a nice trail for camping and trek if you want to see the little falls. A very nice place to spend time with Family and Friends. Would recommend going during summer.
