This is really four museums for the price of one (free!). The demonstration of early cheese-making and how it came to be centred in this area, was fascinating. Much of the equipment is still operation...  more »

Thoroughly our visit to the museum. Guide helpful and informative, but also we were allowed to wander at our own pace. Well worth a visit.  more »

Interesting old artifacts and lots of history. The most incredible wood carving ever. You need to see it to believe it.

I really enjoyed visiting this place and will definitely go again sometime. There's not a whole lot to interest young kids, and it's definitely not a hands-on kind of place, but my kids enjoyed looking at everything. There's a good selection of lots of different types of things, plus a 20-minute video about cheese-making, which was very interesting. There is a HUGE wooden carving/sculpture of a group of wagon trains, which is absolutely beautiful and it's worth visiting to see that alone. The display is so delicate it looks like some of it is made of paper. I have to say that it's one of the most amazing works of craft I've ever seen. They have several buildings, including a school house, blacksmith's, and the cheese factory, as well as the main building. It's not a big place, but it's very well organized and presented.
