Othello Tunnels, Hope

(4.7/5 based on 500+ reviews on the web)
Wander through the province's deep gorges and dense forest at Othello Tunnels, a series of former railway routes spanning the Coquihalla River. Built during the early 20th century to connect the region with the coast by train, the park features an array of walkways, bridges, and paths cutting straight through sheer rock cliffs, some of which rise to heights of 91 m (300 ft). Wander the easy 3.5 km (2.2 mi) loop through five different tunnels and you'll find up close views of the rushing river, as well as the area's lush nature. Alternatively, you can cycle the path or fish in the river with the required license. • Great place to ride bicycles. Or have a walk through the tunnels. 🇨🇦
  • Great place to go for a walk with the family. Great views of the river and an easy walk as the path is wide and flat.
  • The tunnels are quite interesting and well worth visiting in my opinion. There are a total of 5 that you can walk through with causeways that connect one to another. When I visited you could see salmon down in one of the rivers. The tunnels are set in a forested mountain terrain, however the trail is very flat and easy to walk as it used to be a railway bed. There are also picnic tables near the parking lot.
  • Beautiful views. Very mild walk, didn't go into back country though.
  • Incredible experience! Very hard to find, no signs until you get there basically, but well worth the trip off Hwy 1. Bring a flashlight, tunnels are fairly long and dark, so helps with footing. A true marvel of past engineering feat.
