National Park Nature / Park
The Mingan Archipelago National Park Reserve is a national park reserve located in the eastern area of Quebec, Canada, on the north shore of Gulf of St. Lawrence. It features the Mingan Archipelago, a chain of around 40 islands. The islands formed as the continent slowly rose after the last glaciation. Over the course of the last few thousand years, the limestone rocks were slowly eroded by the waves, the changing sea level and the winds, as well as seasonal freezing and thawing. The result is a unique set of limestone sculptures, which form the largest group of such monoliths in Canada.Mingan Archipelago was represented in the 2011 documentary film series National Parks Project, with its film directed by Catherine Martin and scored by Sebastien Grainger, Jennifer Castle and Dan Werb.

  • The landscapes of the Minganie are sublime. I took almost 3 hours, by car, to the road of Havre St-Pierre Natasquan (about 160 km) because I took advantage to many of these lands made both poetic beauty of swamps and rock. I stopped for a light dinner at the convenience store the choice of MARGUERITE to Bay Johan-Beetz: you can buy either salad or pre-cooked dishes and enjoy them in a small coffee section, overlooking the mouth of the river.

  • We visited the naked island and the island to parrots. We loved. Parks Canada guides were very interesting and available for questions. They are very strict on respect for the environment. Lots of birds to watch and great monoliths. To see!

  • The rock structures are amazing and the whole place has a very comfortable feel to it
  • Park is super clean and the trails are well made. Park info center employees are sometimes a little too clueless about the tours but the guides on-site seem more than adequate.
  • Great park very unique and nice.
  • Nice place to visit with interesting rock formations and good wildlife.
  • Wow
