  • After a few wrong turns, we found the York Dedoubt Site. It's not very well marked. We enjoyed the walk around the site and the informative plaques.
  • We found this place by chance missing advertising! Because it was really nice to visit! A nice walk to discover the plot of the story :)

  • this is an interesting place to visit, and historically significant as well. If you go into some of the underground spaces, watch for the odd graffiti
  • This historic site houses one of the oldest batteries in Canada and was in operation from 1793-1956. It was used even during WW2. The Martello tower now only has the base level, but the buildings and rifled muffle loader guns are something to see - how technology evolved in the late 18th century and on. Kids love the site and it has a beautiful view of the harbour mouth. If you have a car it's worth a trip out. Open until 8pm. The small sign from the highway gets overgrown by foliage so keep an eye out.
  • A good historic site, could have been better maintained. Short hike to the water was nice.
  • Great place for a dog walk. Nice view of McNab's Island.
  • Beautiful historic spot with nice walking paths. Good urban exploration location as well.
  • Fantastic structures and history but getting run down and vandalized. Absence of lights in some structures make it a bit unnerving to enter.
