  • Great place to visit for a couple of hours for the whole family. Great views of the harbour and the sea approaches to Halifax. Pack a picnic lunch, on a nice day, and enjoy the views.  more »
  • It is historical site, another of the fortifications which played important role in the protection of the city of Halifax in several battles. He was also a point of protection to convoys of ships passing between North America and Europe during World War II. There are several cannons, bunkers, and good explanatory panels.

  • The redoubt is well worth a visit for the view and the history. Six large guns show why Halifax was never invaded. Great views of the harbour.  more »

  • Great day trip and the lower structures are fun to explore as long as you are of sound mind. Do not walk under or on top of ANYTHING and you will get some great pictures.
  • This historic site houses one of the oldest batteries in Canada and was in operation from 1793-1956. It was used even during WW2. The Martello tower now only has the base level, but the buildings and rifled muffle loader guns are something to see - how technology evolved in the late 18th century and on. Kids love the site and it has a beautiful view of the harbour mouth. If you have a car it's worth a trip out. Open until 8pm. The small sign from the highway gets overgrown by foliage so keep an eye out.
  • This is an awesome place to explore. Great cannons, views of the harbour and living history.
  • A good historic site, could have been better maintained. Short hike to the water was nice.
  • Great history. Nice walk. Amazing view
