Garden Nature / Park
Enjoy wandering among a wide array of plants, trees, flowers, and more at Halifax Public Gardens, one of the finest Victorian-era parks of its kind on the continent. Created in 1867, the gardens span an area of 6.5 ha (16 ac), and boast a number of public spaces and venues. Enter through the park’s ornate wrought-iron gate and stroll along the network of paths, alongside flowerbeds, past fountains, and under exotic trees. Kick back on a bench and people-watch, or grab a seat and enjoy one of the frequent musical performances at the bandstand. • An incredible place, it's a healing garden for me. Completely accessible for all. A place to escape the hustle & bustle of the city. I love sitting by one for the fountains and pretend I am in Paris, London or any other Northern Europe city rich with urban gardens/parks.
  • An absolutely stunning place. There are dozens of beautiful plant beds that are cycled throughout the seasons, which means there's always something new to see. If you need a break from the bustling Spring Garden area, it doesn't get much better than this. Just remember to keep off the grass except in the designated area!
  • Absolutely amazing. Haligonians are quite fortunate to have this peaceful green space in their city. I can see how it can be a calming and relaxing place to spend hours in.
  • My only complaint is the 'no bikes' rule, as the first time i went to check it out i biked there. Though once you get inside you can see why that rule is in place. Beautiful gardens, a good place to go read a book and drink a coffee.
  • The garden is beautiful and fun, definitely a must see for anyone visiting! Normally turns into an energetic place during any city events! The sugah bar at the south entrance is a really nice place to have a coffee or ice cream.
