  • Well this was a big controversy with Halifaxx residents until it's completion and it has become a place to be and be seen in the Summer/Winter/Spring and Fall! Many events occur and it is wonderful to...  more »
  • The oval in Halifax is one of our family's winter favourites. We don't live in Halifax, but we always come there for New Year's eve/day and make a visit, weather permitting to the skating oval. Skates...  more »
  • I think every city should have this. It was such a sight to see all the people and families enjoying themselves by biking or skating. I am so glad that the city kept this. Its obviously a much loved a...  more »

  • At first glance it's simply a concrete track in an oval shape, but there's more to it. It's chilled to maintain an ice surface in the winter, and still makes a great track for rollerblading or cycling in the summer. All equipment is available to borrow at no charge (!), allowing anyone to try out a new sport or just have a good time. Every time I come here I marvel at how lucky we are to have such a wonderful place. More than just a beautifully-located, central, immaculately-maintained sports oval, it is an invitation to Haligonians and visitors to embrace the city, the outdoors, an active lifestyle, and each other. Having it all available free-of-charge is undoubtedly expensive for the city, but the increase in quality of life and enthusiasm for the city is worth it.
  • An amazing and unique space for our city. An amazing public space where our citizens can gather and be together regardless of socioeconomic circumstances. They have free skate rentals which is completely invaluable and it's just a great place for our inhabitants to go for some exercise. Completely inlove. :)
  • Awesome to place to check out. Ice skating in the winter and roller blades among other recreational vehicles. Best part is they provide everything you need for free including skates, roller blades, bikes etc.
  • Great skating, beavertails are great, makes for a good time in the winter
  • I enjoy coming here for skating. They offer free equipment which is a plus. It's fun for kids, families and friends.
