(3.6/5 based on 650+ reviews on the web)
Learn about the beer and the man whose name adorns each bottle during a tour of Alexander Keith's, one of the oldest commercial breweries in North America. Founded in 1820 by Alexander Keith, a Scottish immigrant who would go on to become town mayor on three occasions, the brewery brews a range of beers, although its most popular remains the original India pale ale. Take a tour of the facility to learn about the history of the man and his beer, guided along your way by actors in period clothing. • This tour is just good fun, and should be viewed from that perspective. You won't learn profound lessons about beer making, but you will enjoy yourself. The kids conducting the tour are clearly having...  more »
  • We really enjoyed our tour! It was low season so we had a private tour - really learned a lot, had a lot of fun, enjoyed the samples! However, at $25/pp I feel the tour is overpriced.
  • Now a museum depicting the processes involved in making this great ale, from the malt plant, brewing plant, bottling plant. There is the Red Stag Tavern on the premises which is open for meals and to ...  more »

  • We had a tour booked for 2:00pm. We got there literally at 2:03pm because of construction in the area and they wouldn't let us join because we were late. I said to the lady that were were only a few minutes late and that I was surprised they wouldn't let us join, her response was "Well you're late so that's not our fault" - I was absolutely shocked by her response. Very unprofessional. Anyways they didn't let us on. So don't be late!
  • The tour includes beer tasting and a few are only available at the brewery. The fundy low tide white ipa was awesome. The best part was the girls singing at the end. Their voices were incredible. Like a great kitchen party.
  • Brewery tours of Atlantic Canada's oldest brewery with guides in 19th century motif. In an historic building this place is fantastic. Grab some pub food and Keith's beer after the tour. Love the place, but would be nice if all the tour guides were in period costume. The delivery was enthusiastic but quite robotic and scripted.
  • Not the most exciting brewery tour ever. I've done the Heineken tour in Amsterdam, and in comparison, the Keith's tour is really boring (and costs the same as the super cool, and longer Heineken tour - $25 CAD). Neat way to learn about the history surrounding Keith's and Halifax, but I probably wouldn't recommend it as a must-see in Halifax.
  • Fun tour with a enthusiast crew and good tasting beer. Made me a Keith's fan.
