#1 of 9 in Breweries in Nova Scotia
Learn about the beer and the man whose name adorns each bottle during a tour of Alexander Keith's, one of the oldest commercial breweries in North America. Founded in 1820 by Alexander Keith, a Scottish immigrant who would go on to become town mayor on three occasions, the brewery brews a range of beers, although its most popular remains the original India pale ale. • Had changed so much in the last 4 years...now so rushed...why?..I have taking friends and family when down to visit.....even have taken Co workers to the once great tour..they have really shortened it...  more »
  • Almost everyone we talked to while visiting Halifax recommended the Alexander Keith's brewery tour. We decided to try it and were not disappointed. It had history, laughs, entertainment and of course ...  more »
  • Beer continues to be brewed after over a hundred years. Has a similar vibe to the Guinness brewery in Dublin. More than just another excuse to hoist a pint.  more »

  • I wish I could tell you about the tour, but I can't because we were "sticker shocked" at the cost. It would have been over $125 for the five of us to go on the tour. My group was excited about the tour so we called the night before in order to hear any pertinent last minute details - there was no mention of a fee. I researched online and in the Doers and Dreamers 2017 Travel Guide where it stated there was a charge for the hour long tour but NO WHERE could I find the cost listed..... probably because noone would go if they knew ahead of time.
  • Very funny tour with good amount of beer to taste. Artist were funny! One Star less because it was too expansive. All in all definitely recommendable!
  • Catch these guys while an event is going on and you might luck into a free beer. Its a pretty historic venue definitely worth going to, to get a vibe of traditional Halifax
  • The place is usually busy as many tourists hit the door, but during the hours of operation they welcome you anyhow. The Beer is fresh and fantastic.
  • I had a really fun time on the musical beer tour here. I think they recently started brewing beer here again. Cool place!
