Kicking Horse Pedestrian Bridge, Golden

4.5
Don't miss one of Golden's emblematic landmarks at Kicking Horse Pedestrian Bridge--at 46 m (151 ft), the longest covered timber bridge in all of Canada. Built in 2001 by community volunteers for a town-wide event, the bridge lies within easy walking distance from downtown Golden. Aside from its practical function, the Douglas-fir structure symbolizes cooperation by locals in the community. Combine your visit to the bridge with a bit of browsing in the town's quaint shops. • A new bridge with the feel of a historical building. Still smells of lumber. A great place to take pictures, the trestles frame them.  more »

  • Lovely covered bridge. Amazing views up and down the fast flowing river. Next to the bridge there is a small but accessible bit of shore if you fancy dipping your toes in the water. Be warned though, it is cold!
  • This is a beautiful bridge and charming place to stop off. We enjoyed walking the trail and wondering into town for lunch. There's a cute rock waterfall as well. It's easily accessible.
  • Definitely something to check out if you havent been across a covered foot bridge before. There were also nice information boards to show the history of the bridge and how it came to be. The bridge connects some nice walking paths that follow the river in Golden. Great spot for nice photos as well.
  • If you visit Golden, you must come to see this bridge! It may be unique in western Canada ( though these Bridges were once common in Eastern Canada). You can walk, cycle, or roll over it, but be sure to linger for a while and appreciate the intricacy of its construction.
  • Beautiful bridge leading to nice riverside walking paths. Post and beam style construction is solid, very interesting. Nice icon for this cute community.
