From skiing to mountain biking, horse riding to alpine sightseeing, there's something for everyone at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort. Enjoy panoramic mountain views and ever-changing flora as you explore the area. A gondola takes you up to the grand mountains as high as 1,260 m (4,100 ft), where you have access to slopes comparable to those used for heli-skiing. As a result, the terrain is better suited for advanced skiers, as the slopes can be quite steep. • I love skiing here in the winter. They have some amazing steep chute runs. Not the best place for beginners but they do have some areas for newer folks to the slopes. I would recommend going up the gondola if you are a green type skier. Blue skier should be fine but might find it a bit intimidating. Lots of great difficult runs to push your ability if that's what you are looking for. Really long longs top to bottom as well.
  • KHMR is a must do on my list for Golden. As a group of 8 that had never been to the Canadian Rockies, we were tempted to drive all the way to Banff for the Banff Gondola and views. Luckily, we chose the KHMR Gondola and I am SO glad we did. The views are outstanding, lunch at Eagle's Eye restaurant was a blast, and we were even able to fit in a hike while at the top. The Gondola and available packages are not well advertised on the KHMR website, but I highly recommend for those visiting Golden.
  • Enjoyed a great stay at this resort while we were in Golden for a summer wedding. The views are stunning and staff were friendly. We were there mid week and it was very quiet and empty. Be aware that in the summer low season the General Store is not well stocked with food items, so shop in town before heading up the mountain.
  • Steep skiing. Lots of expert terrain. Blue runs here would be considered to be blacks elsewhere. You need to take a 14KM access road up to the resort from the town of golden. Due to a one way bridge present at the beginning: it might take 20-25 minutes to get up. Major complaint is around the lifts. At the base there's a single chairlift and a gondola. The chairlift gets you just under halfway up so most people go for the gondola. I was there on a weekday and it was pretty dead: yet there were still 3-5 minute waits to get on the gondola. Can only imagine the line ups on a busy weekend. The "It's a Ten" green run from the top is a pretty good beginners run with plenty of smaller blue/black "shortcuts" along the way. However if you have problems with turning and speed control this isn't the place for you. Only other complaint was that the ice rink was pretty dinky.
  • Thank you to the patrol staffs for taking such a good care of my boyfriend after hitting his head seriously. They did everything right and took cared of me at the same time as I couldn't keep it together. Thanks again patrols for your amazing hard work!
