  • I loved it. Opened on June 29, 1989, the Canadian Museum of History is the work of celebrated Canadian architect Douglas Cardinal. The structure draws its inspiration from how Canada must have looked ...  more »
  • The children's Museum is really worth to be visited with children 3 to 8 years. It's a tour of the world through games. Very well constructed and informative even for parents.

  • The museum is great if you're into Canadian History, and the park space just behind the museum by the river is excellent. This is an excellent venue for big events - lots of wide open spaces, with a more unique architecture and layout than you'd get from a typical corporate event-type venue. It's also a phenomenal place to take kids: I used to love coming to the Children's Museum when I was young, the exhibits are very diverse and engaging.
  • What a fantastic museum. My children absolutely love going here. It is very fascinating and educational. I would recommend anyone to visit. The staff are very friendly and the exhibits are absolutely amazing. I always take my family and friends here when they come visit from out of town!
  • One of Canada's finest museums that also partners with the Canadian war museum. Buy a season pass and it pays for itself after 2.5 visits. The Exhibits change regularly and the main indigenous peoples exhibit is well done. Cine+ films are also available and very informative as well as entertaining. Something for all ages here and the children's museum is very hands on. If we have out of town guests we always take them here or the war museum.
  • It's a must, so amazing this beautiful museum of history. You need a full day if not more to visit. So much information on our planet from the bigging to now and so much about the universe. This museum has what it takes. Two thumbs up on this amazing place. 👍👍
  • Great museum with interactive exhibitions. I particularly recommend it for kids. You have a couple of places where you can have coffee or a quick bite. The staff is helpful. There is a paying parking beneath the museum. They also have room for conferences.

Where to stay in Gatineau

Overshadowed by the neighboring national capital just across the river, Gatineau itself offers relatively little in the way of accommodations. Most people prefer to stay in Ottawa and simply catch public transportation across the river. If you prefer to stay in Gatineau, you can find a handful of motels along Boulevard Greber, and a few chain hotels farther northeast, just off Boulevard Maloney O.
