  • We probably arrived at the wrong time to see the puffins. We only saw three puffins - still cool. It was a nice hike out to the viewing area - there was a warm breeze. It is a visit by donation so you...  more »
  • A must see if you are in the BonaVista area. The scenery is breathtaking and the puffins are smart and stay where no human can get to. So, unless you have a powerful telephoto lens you do not see them...  more »
  • I'm in love with these adorable birds, so visiting the Elliston Puffin Site was a must for me. The birds were just coming ashore to nest and we did not have the best binoculars or camera lens, but I s...  more »
  • Great place to visit!! Can easily stay there for an hour just watching the cute bird flying and jumping around, or trying to catch a photo when they fly. Binoculars helps since there's still distance away from them. I think it's a must go place if you like to see puffin clearly. We took the witless bay cruise but you can never see puffin clearly like this viewing site. Plus it's free, appreciated :) Definitely will come again in our next Newfoundland trip.
  • I was amazed at this breathing location where the Atlantic Puffins have chosen to have their nests. Elliston and Cape St. Mary's are the two spots that are definitely a must to visit, in Newfoundland. Birdies and photographers will think they died and went to heaven. Simply outstanding!
  • Amazing! Absolutely worth a visit to see the unique birds up close. Resist the urge to crowd the edge of the viewing site and you'll be awarded with a chance encounter should a puffin land up close and personal.
  • Great place to view Puffin life. This is a rookery and their best are underground but they spend large amounts of time coming and going as well as just hanging out.
  • This is a terrific spot to view puffins. A pair of binoculars or a small telephoto lens will make you feel you are right in the middle of them. The walk out to the site is slightly rugged, but negotiable by almost anyone. Because their nesting site is on a separate little island, they do not feel at all frightened and just go about their business.
