  • Visit there several times each year. Love to take pictures. Even get whales and ice burgs. Nice hike. Have taken videos. If it is quiet the puffins sometimes fly over and land near you.  more »
  • Who loves Fullmers and want to make a boat tour, should take necessarily the route to Elliston under the wheels. After a short walk over hill and Dale, one eye faces the Fullmers. Wonderful. Sometimes one flies over, otherwise you can hunt them for hours on the rock during the incubation, fish, watch flying and scuba diving. Very much recommended!

  • We went early August and saw only a handful of puffins. A bit disappointed, especially since we just visited Cape St. Mary’s a day before and saw thousand of seabirds. Having said that, the puffins we...  more »

  • A short walk past root cellars to the site where Atlantic Puffins return to nest and raise their young in summer. During the right times, patience and stillness is often rewarded with very close views of these wonderful birds. It's astonishing to see them in flight as well; they are surprisingly very fast. there is no admission fee, but there is a donation box at the start of the trail. Contribute what you can.
  • Scenic beauty, good spot to sit and watch the puffins swoop down to the water and then fly up on the rock to their burrows. You'll need a good zoom lens for pics. Most visitors are surprised at how small these birds are. You can also watch their encounters with the bullish gulls. The root cellars were very cool. We built an inukshuk on the rocks. Make sure you stop at the beach for a walk in the Atlantic Ocean!
  • While I spent a lot of time debating whether to make this 3+ hour trip (1.5h each way from the Trans Canada), I don't regret it for a moment. Although the 6km road leading to the site is awfully pothole-filled, the town is adorable. The site itself is well indicated and I strongly recommend being careful and wearing good shoes! I saw more puffins than I ever imagined seeing. Absolutely worth it!!
  • A bit out of town but well worth the drive. Fantastic viewing area and we were fortunate enough to see hundreds of puffins.
  • Bring good binoculars and be prepared to wait for activity. It's rewarding when the puffins get busy, apparently near sunset. They were in high gear for ~15 minutes at 6 pm (early July) for us, then all took off to fish, leaving a single sentry behind.
