West Edmonton Mall, Edmonton

4.1
#1 of 102 in Shopping in Alberta
A shopping experience of monumental proportions, West Edmonton Mall is the 10th largest mall in the world and “the most comprehensive retail, hospitality and entertainment complex on Earth”. Sprawling across 492,000 sq m (5,300,000 sq ft), the mall is packed full of entertainment attractions, alongside 800 shopping outlets offering days worth of retail therapy for even the most avid shopper. Skate your way across the impressive snowy white indoor ice rink, or explore a cavernous underground aquarium, home to over 100 species of fish, sharks, sea turtles, reptiles and penguins. For the next adventure, head to the world’s largest indoor wave pool at the “World Waterpark” or find yourself discombobulated in the “Crystal Labyrinth” hall of mirrors. You still haven’t scratched the surface of what’s on offer at this city-sized mega mall. Went shopping at Lululemon store there today, had really bad experience: after I tried on several pants in the fitting room, I put those pants back to where I found them, making an effort not to leave...  more »

If you are looking for something unique or don't want to have the same top or pants as 1000 people I wouldn't suggest shopping here. Most of the stores carry very generic clothing that all looks the same. I can say that I enjoyed shopping through Simon's so you should definitely go there if you come to West Ed and there was a very cool hat shop in the mall as well. Hit up Rocky Mountain Chocolates on your way out or try one of the amazing burgers from 1st Round and skip the rest!

I liked this mall because of a the option's and versatility of the mall. Yes, there are a few duplicate stores. But all in all its well stocked with stores. Love the indoor skating rink, and children will lose their $#!% over the huge pirate ship. The water park is a little expensive but ensures a day of fun will be had.

Full Shopping options from Major Retail Chains and Specialty Shops. Attached Fantasy Hotel with Themed Rooms. A very Popular Tourist Destination known all over the World.

Great selection of stores. I would suggest going during the week, however even on the weekend it didn't seem overly crowded. Other attractions including a water show and a water park which was a lot of fun! We went after 4 and received a discounted price at the water park plus unlimited cola and use of all the slides ! Fun way to relax after spending time shopping.

Kids love spending the day at the aquatic centre. There is a huge variety of shops for every taste. Plenty of food courts and entertainment. I love hanging around and drink a good coffee.

Where to stay in Edmonton

For access to the best entertainment options and proximity to the North Saskatchewan River and the parks surrounding it, you can't beat Downtown's accommodations. Look near the intersection of Jasper Avenue and 100 Street NW--you'll be right next to Central metro station and just a few minutes' walk from the riverside park. If you're after nightlife and cafe culture, look south of the river in Strathcona, or in the neighboring student hub of Garneau. You can also choose from a large selection of accommodations farther out in West Edmonton.
