  • Beautiful and amazing in summer and winter lovely scenes from the twelve days of Xmas and helpful staff they even provide umbrellas scooters and places to get out of bad weather love this place  more »
  • Large gardens with many different gardenrooms and vistas. It is a major touris attraction and it was busy but still did not feel too overcrowded.  more »
  • I love the back story or history of this place. Once a mine then eyesore-cum-garden! Very nice. The light in the evening are great too. Tough to get transportation from here.  more »

  • Butchart Gardens' Christmas Lights are ABSOLUTELY worth your time and money. I recommend arriving before the rush begins at 3pm, as there will be cars lined-up for over a kilometre to get in during peak times. Come a bit early, stroll around before the crowds, enjoy a snack or a beverage, and then make the full loop once dusk arrives. Finish off with the brass band and carolers in the piazza and cup of peppermint hot cocoa. The temperate climate means there's still lots of greenery to enjoy, even without the blooms, and the lights are simply magical, plus a carousel ride for only $2 is sure to delight little ones. Every detail has been thought of, the gardens are fully mobility-friendly, loaner umbrellas are easy to find in case of a light sprinkle, and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Lovely, of course, during the main season when everything is in bloom. Simply stunning over the holidays; a must-visit!
  • My favourite garden since I moved to Victoria in 2009. Have been a member for over 10 years now. The gardens are different in every season, and t is hard to choose the best time, so I come very often, at least 10 times a year, especially in summer when the added bonus are amazing concerts! Free for me as a member. Also, the gift shop is really good, I buy all my jewelry here, as all wonderful pieces sold here are made by local artisans. The membership program is really an amazing value, and I always recommend it to everyone.
  • Lovely and GORGEOUS!! Our family of four, including an 11 and 8 year old boys loved our time here...which surprised us as parents. They enjoyed the carousel, the water fountains and they got into photographing the flowers. We whipped through it in 2 hours and stayed for the summer concert that evening which was fun with lots of people dancing and a fun old time nostalgic feel. We also had dinner in the cafe and the food quality was very good and fair pricing. If you love gardening and flowers you could easily spend half a day or more slowly taking it in, if you just appreciate the beauty it’s fun for a few hours like we did. Definitely one of the most exquisite gardens I’ve experience in my world travels!! We visited in late July, flowers were in full bloom, temps in the 70’a it was wonderful.
  • Went for the holiday lights on Christmas day around 5PM. It wasn't too busy, staff was organized, helpful and friendly. Paths get a little clogged sometimes, but you just sit and enjoy the lights with everyone. I really commend how wheelchair accessible the garden is - most paths are paved, with alternatives to stairs in a lot of areas. There are a few paths that have finer gravel, maybe about fingernail size. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here.
  • My friend and I have been here several times, but so much beauty to see still have to go back! We took a little boat ride, our Captain was Noland, or Brown beard as he called himself! He was the best narrator and boat ride we had. Very personable and knowledgeable. We highly recommend him as a tour guide! He is an asset to Buchart Gardens!
