History Museum Museum
Catch a glimpse of the Acadian way of life when you step into history at Village Historique Acadien. The village aims to show visitors the traditions of the Acadian colonists in the 17th and 18th centuries. The friendly staff in period costumes are happy to stop and answer questions, or walk you through their area. Each building portrays a story that helps to highlight aspects of early colonial life, like the printing shop, the tavern, and the general store. Head to the blacksmith for an especially interesting demonstration of metal working. The attraction regularly holds special events, so check the calendar before going. Put Village Historique Acadien into our Caraquet travel itinerary planner and find out what's close by, where to stay, and where to head next.

  • Authentic and makes for a nice walk while learning about the Acadian people. Worth a visit.
  • A must see village but make sure to put enough time as you may need two days to visit the whole village
  • Great place to thoroughly know about Arcadian history. Amazing!
  • I like to visit here every time we are in NB visiting my wife's family. It is a great site to learn about history, see beautiful sites, and maybe eat some delicious, oven fresh bread. Highly recommended!!
  • This was a great way to see how people used to live in the 18th and 19th century. Talk to the actors to learn more. Keep in mind this place is huge and we did it in 1.5 hours rushing as much as we could. Expect to spend 3-4 hours there.
