Catch a glimpse of the Acadian way of life when you step into history at Village Historique Acadien. The village aims to show visitors the traditions of the Acadian colonists in the 17th and 18th centuries. The friendly staff in period costumes are happy to stop and answer questions, or walk you through their area. Each building portrays a story that helps to highlight aspects of early colonial life, like the printing shop, the tavern, and the general store. Head to the blacksmith for an especially interesting demonstration of metal working. The attraction regularly holds special events, so check the calendar before going. Village to visit without fault, it is the 3rd time that I do know friends and even for me it's always interesting. The people who work there are passionate and we tell the story with so many details that it's like at the time of the arrival of these Acadian who today are still very proud. In several houses of the sites you will see life as it was in time, plan at least 5 hours on the site, and can sleep on the site at the imposing Albert, otherwise the ticket is good for 2 days.

This attraction compares well to Kings Landing in NB and Ross Farm in NS. I enjoyed our visit, but two our kids (8 and 12) were less interested. The animators are well informed and were able to discus...  more »

Great success as this historical Canadian Village. Going up the main avenue, the tour starting with the House of Jean Martin dating from 1773, it is the history of Acadia that is told by actors telling crowd of details and anecdotes. We are not bored a second, we look at the inhabitants work as in the past, we listen to their stories (sometimes dramatic for some families), everything works like the impressive flour mill... In short, it is not in an amusement like the others but in of authentic with people passionate and exciting.

A must see village but make sure to put enough time as you may need two days to visit the whole village

I like to visit here every time we are in NB visiting my wife's family. It is a great site to learn about history, see beautiful sites, and maybe eat some delicious, oven fresh bread. Highly recommended!!

This was a great way to see how people used to live in the 18th and 19th century. Talk to the actors to learn more. Keep in mind this place is huge and we did it in 1.5 hours rushing as much as we could. Expect to spend 3-4 hours there.
