  • Ceilidh is a Gaelic word meaning meeting but, this word also means songs, dances, tales, a "party" at home. The Ceilidh Trail is the panoramic road #19 which starts at Port Hastings and along the Gulf of St. Lawrence on almost 100 km. This ancient track was settled by Scottish immigrants. It is one of the Gaelic culture. The most beautiful beaches of the Cape Breton Island lie on this road (Port Hood, West Mabou, Inverness). For our day "Culture Gaelic" we left Sydney early in the morning. We visited the "Highland Village Museum" at Iona, took the ferry to Little Narrow, bought fine products at the "Galloping Cow fine" shop in Port Hood and took our lunch at the "Red Shoe Pub" in Mabou. Finally, we made a stop at the Glenora Distillery in Glenville, and finally, we went walking to the beach of Inverness. For our return to Sydney, we borrowed the road that runs along the Lake Ainslie and we stopped at Baddeck to visit downtown. A total distance of 325 km. We ran out of time to visit the only Winery of the island of Cape Breton "Eileanan Breagha Vineyards, 5349 Marble Mountain Rd, River Denys.
