Ridgeline Guiding Services Reviews
My friend and I weren't planning on being guided up Fairview Mountain, however after attempting the summit on our own, about 1km from the top we turned around because we lost the trail and there was t... more »
Our guide, Patrick, was incredible. Always patient, both helping the newbies of the group to navigate the course and catering to the more experienced climbers by sending them to harder rock faces. He ... more »
Patrick is everything you’d expect in a guide and more. He was very thorough in providing climbing instruction while being diligent about safety. We had a larger group with varying skill levels and he... more »
We thoroughly enjoyed having Patrick as our guide. He made sure we were properly equipped, trained and safe. He is a very good teacher. He taught us in a way we could easily understand and remember. He waited patiently until we mastered one skill before moving on to the next skill. He was fun and relaxed, and encouraged us to push ourselves and learn the skills to help us ice climb. My children were very comfortable talking with and learning from him. We had a blast!
My boyfriend and I recently completed a day of Beginner Ice Climbing with Patrick and it was truly a great day. Patrick is very personable and his knowledge of not only ice climbing but the mountains in general was impressive. Safety is obvious a priority when he has guests and that made me (who started the day quite nervous) feel much more at ease. We were both able to do several climbs, take turns belaying, and repel. Patrick also took the time to teach us about the equipment so that we were involved in the entire experience of ice climbing. Would highly recommend Ridgeline Guiding Services to anyone - new or experienced.
Last week my friend and I ice climbed with Ridgeline Guiding Services. Patrick, the owner of the company and our guide for the day, is an all-around terrific human being. After spending a full day with him, I know this to be true in his work-life and couldn’t imagine it to be untrue in his personal life. His attentiveness, attention to detail, prompt responses to emails/questions I had prior to the trip are indicative of (and what you would expect from) a small business. I would highly recommend checking out Ridgeline before booking with one of the bigger, touristy companies. It’s a much more personal experience that a large company just can’t match. I’ve climbed with numerous guides in the past and Patrick is by far, one of the best. Not only is he knowledgeable, he is personable and makes you feel very safe in a sport that could otherwise seem a little sketchy. It was my first time climbing ice and my friend’s first time climbing anything. Regardless of our difference in experience, Patrick was able to arrange a day that was enjoyable for both of us. My only regret is that we didn’t have more time. Already looking forward to the next trip and steeper ice!
Patrick was a great guide and instructor. Very knowledgeable about all aspects of ice climbing and mountain safety. Conversation throughout the day ranged from history of the areas we were climbing in to personal motivations for climbing and risk management. Would recommend to people of any experience level who are looking for a fun and unique day out in the mountains.
We hired Patrick to take us out for a challenging and rewarding day of ice climbing, and he definitely delivered! Not only did we have fun, but we were able to learn some techniques to help us progress in the sport. We got a long great with him and felt comfortable at all times. We will definitely be back for more adventures!
