Ha Ling Peak, Canmore

Categories: Mountains, Nature & Parks
Inspirock Rating:
4.8/5 based on 200+ reviews on the web
Climb over 700 m (2,296 ft) to take in the incredible views of Bow River Valley from Ha Ling Peak. The peak takes its name from a cook working for the Canadian Pacific Railway who, in 1896, climbed to the summit in record time. With various trails on offer, you can choose whether to hike, climb, or scramble to the peak to enjoy the panoramic vistas. When you leave the tree-shaded area, the path to the top becomes loose rock, so wear appropriate footwear. Put Ha Ling Peak and other Canmore attractions into our Canmore family vacation planner, and watch your holiday take shape.

  • Great hike close to Banff. Decent elevation gain from the start, and possibly challenging scramble near the summit. Definitely worth the view you're rewarded with.
  • Great views - can be done in 3 hrs from parking to summit if you're fit.
  • Great short, intense hike. The views are amazing.
  • Great experience. Nice incline great view from the top. Nice challenge for the whole family. My buddy and I took our 7 and 8 year old sons and they made it all they way!!
  • Ha Ling is a pretty decent mountain. Short but with a pretty decent incline and elevation. Good in the winter, microspikes recommended. I saw a girl attempt in Uggs and it was hilarious. Zero traction.
