  • One of the Bow Valleys biggest bang for the buck hikes. Mostly follows the creek bed, so very rocky. Stop at the falls or continue up the mountain to the grotto, the hoodoos and beyond. Kid friendly, lots of dogs.
  • great hike (after first 2km) that gives a lot for 6-8 y olds to play on, and interesting geology. Good short bolted climbs.
  • Beautiful winter hike that allows you to hike through a canyon on a frozen stream. Beautiful frozen waterfall at the end of the hike. Make sure you bring some sort of extra traction for your shoes like Yak Trax, because it is a bit slippery.
  • One of the best and easiest short hikes in summer and winter (to the ice climbing wall). Deep slot canyon with small elevation gain. 5 km return from Grotto Pond. Trail is a Creek bed and can be very icy and slushy in warm winter spells.
  • Grotto is good for climbing in the summer. In the winter it has cool ice flows you can walk on. Bring ice cleats for your shoes! Overall it's a pretty easy walk but fairly pretty. If you have the proper equipment, there's no need to use the Banff tour companies for this walk.
