We had absolutely the most amazing experience at Rats Nest Caves. We opted for the longer your. During the experience, we hiked up 20 mins, rappelled a 20-30m opening deep into the caves, slid... more »
We took our whole family on a Solitude Tour for our youngest's 10th birthday. We do a lot of outdoor activities, but had never been caving. It was fabulous. Our guides, John & Will were friendly... more »
Must do! Absolutely exhilirating! You will be a caver after the experience. I will not lie, the hike is hard for people who are not used to, it is 45min long and is steep. But I am also not lying... more »
We had an amazing time in Rats Nest cave. It was so beautiful underground and the majestic Taverns made our souls happy. This is a MUST do experience. Don't miss out on this gem of an experience in Canmore. Our guide Tiffany was also wonderful. She was very knowledgeable about the cave, fun, positive and energetic. She really went above and beyond to make sure all of us were comfortable and enjoying ourselves.
I did the full adventure tour with my family and had a fantastic time. My family and I have some experience with caving, but we were not expecting this sort of adventure! We had a tour guide by the name of Max and he was all we could ask for. You could tell he was very passionate about caving and has an immense amount of experience and knowledge. I was expecting it to be a cave that had been modified for tourists to make it an easy walk, and maybe even a little bit of crawling here and there. Luckily it was the complete opposite! The cave has been completely untouched apart from a few safety ropes (that were appreciated as some of the rock was very slippery) and there were quite a few very challenging passages. There were cracks and tunnels, which we had the option to go through, where you had maybe an inch or two on either side to wiggle your way through. Sometimes you couldn’t even use your arms to pull yourself through, you had to push with your toes! If you are claustrophobic, then you will definitely get over your fear by the end of the trip! I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants an authentic, proper caving experience. I would also highly recommend asking for Max to be your tour guide if possible! The trip would not have been anywhere as fun or exciting without him.
Unbelievable, empowering experience. Brent did a phenomenal job guiding us through, without "holding our hand" and gave us some great laughs, and very interesting information along the way. I can honestly say I would've never have even attempted to squeeze through a tiny tunnel, until I was there. Once you see it and do it yourself, you get such a sense of fulfillment that is hard to replicate. My wife and I will absolutely be back again. 10/10
Was so much fun! Thanks to our guide, Brent, it made it so easy and safe. Easily a new hobby for me and my girlfriend. Although all of the tight spots are optional pretty much the entire group did them. Thanks again!
Absolutely worth doing this once. They take you deep into the cave. You should be comfortable with small tight places and fit enough to wiggle around and climb up and down. This is a must do activity for adults and youth. Not recommended for children younger than 13.
