  • We rented bikes and are cycled at Fort Calgary the Bow River along - you can see here why Canadians love their cities - the whole coast is wonderfully prepared for many purposes. Then also on the Prince's Island Park, where in the summer, some events (including drama performances) stattfindne and is a local is (with a public toilet at the restaurant). At the 14 th Street direction city we are then back past a ToP supermarket and back towards downtown. A beautiful tour with many insights on the city and the residents.

  • This is a nice city park. - It has several interesting bridges giving access to the park. Peace Bridge is also nearby to the west. - An art sculpture area - A playground - A sort-of pond with geese/ducks. - Coffee shop with washrooms. - Nice views of the Bow river throughout. - Flower gardens - Area for performances - jogging/hiking trails - I would assume biking too - several picnic tables. Being downtown, it is close to several of the area amenities, notably Eau Claire market. We went on a Sunday so free downtown street parking. Might be a problem other days though since parking is really expensive. Visited May 2016
  • Beautiful green space in the center of the city. Lots of people around at lunch but it's definitely less busy on weeknights if there are no events on. Great spot for a picnic if you don't mind sharing your space.
  • Beautiful piece of park just outside of the city. Scenic and peaceful. A great place to get away from the noise of downtown life.
  • Lovely city park that makes the most out of the landscape. Come here for a picnic, to read a book, to play a ball or frisbee game, to do some people watching, or marvel at the strange colours of the river. Public toilets are located under the River Cafe.
  • Gorgeous family friendly park. There is quite a bit of free street parking as well. Very family friendly and close to Chinatown area!

Where to stay in Calgary

South of the river is where most of the action happens in Calgary, and that's where you'll find the best selection of places to stay. Downtown, the central neighborhood located on the river's southern bank offers the widest range of choices, with access to several of the city's major metro stations a big plus. For arts, nightlife, and quality of living, go to The Beltine, known for its cafes, restaurants, arts, and entertainment. If you're just visiting the city briefly but want access to onward transport links, choose accommodations located close to the city's international airport.
