Chinook Centre is the largest enclosed shopping centre in Calgary, Alberta, Canada . It is located near the geographic centre of the city on Macleod Trail, just north of Glenmore Trail about 5km south of downtown, and three blocks west of the Chinook C-Train station.Chinook Centre is home to three major department stores, 250 stores, and several full service restaurants. It also contains a 900 seat food court offering more than 36 food vendors, a bowling alley, professional tower, and the Scotiabank Theatre Chinook, with 16 screens, an IMAX Theatre and two UltraAVX theatres. The focal point of the mall is a four-storey-high rotunda, with a fibre optic 'constellation' ceiling and a time capsule at the centre's axis, set to be opened in the year 2999.The mall is owned and operated by Cadillac Fairview, one of Canada's largest real estate property managers and developers.HistoryIn 1960, with Calgary's population and city limits rapidly expanding, the original section of Chinook Centre was opened on the site of the Chinook Drive-In Theatre and the adjacent Skyline drive-in and driving range. Designed as an open-air complex, the mall was anchored by Woodward's, Holt Renfrew, a bowling alley, and a branch of the Calgary Public Library.

  • This is perhaps the largest mall in Calgary and not far away from city center. The layout is very user-friendly with plenty of signs ...sunshine enters the mall at many areas. Went to the Apple store ...  more »
  • It's Calgary's version of Yorkdale Mall in Toronto. It's big, has a bunch of decent stores and yes...for all you fruit lovers...it has an Apple Store. The three times I've been here, the whole car sce...  more »
  • Central location. Underground free parking with security. Every major shop with Bay anchor. Not inexpensive but lots of choice. Good quality shops. Can easily spend the day here.

  • Overall, I enjoyed the mall. There were lots of stores, some which I have never seen in my neck of the woods. What I didn't like about this mall was the bathrooms. I only managed to find 2 - one on the main floor and one upstairs. The one upstairs was much too humid, whereas the one downstairs was in a disgusting state of affairs - there was even blood on the toilet seat! Gross! They need more bathrooms, need a dehumidifier in the upstairs one, and need to clean them more frequently!
  • Yes the shops are nice. Yes the food court is great for mall standards. But it is always crowded like the only Tim Horton's in town. Avoid in the holiday season especially... Parking is mental from October onward. Other malls have the same shops mostly so think of that. Mostly join the off season months.
  • All your shopping needs are here. You have the Bay, Nordstrom, Lululemon, Banana Republic, J crew, BCBG, Kiehl's, Phil ans Sebastian... And so much more. Underground parking is usually crowded, but if you own a Tesla, you have reserved parking spot!
  • DONT TAKE YOUR KIDS HERE FOR HALLOWEEN!!!!!!!!!!! I like taking my kids to the mall for halloween since my youngest is 2 and it is hard for her to walk up the stairs to peoples houses. This year we happen to go to the mall at 10am on halloween to buy her some shoes. I was planning on taking the kids to the mall in the evening to trick and treat. By 10 am the majority of stores already has sign up saying "boo! sorry we are out of candy!. The mall opens its doors at 930am. The fact that they were "out" of candy at 1030am was ridiculous. Shoppers drug mart is in chinook centre and they sell halloween candy. I could not believe that these stores could not be bothered to go to shoppers drug mart and pick up some candy for the kids. Chinook centre is one of the busiest malls in Calgary. I buy all my kids clothes and shoes from this mall. It is nice to know that chinook centre customers mean so little to the owners of the stores. Shameful! I will not make the mistake of going to this mall for halloween again and I am going to do my shopping at Southcentre of Market mall instead.
  • Great mall. Plenty of stores for everyone. It was my first time visiting over the weekend and will definitely return in the future. Very airy and bright. Lots of options in the food court as well.
