Downey's Farm Market, Caledon

#2 of 6 in Shopping in Caledon
Downey's Farm has been owned by the Downey family since 1920.

In 1987, the family opened a roadside corn stand where the children sold sweet corn to pay for hockey equipment.

By the 1990s, the dairy barn was renovated to house a farm market and bakery.

Today, Downey's Farm is home to a playground, lots of animals, an award winning winery, and a fudge company!

  • Ordered a turkey here for out Thanksgiving diner and it was an amazing bird! Big and juicy the turkey was exactly what we had been promised. We also picked up a couple frozen pot pies that turned out ...  more »
  • This place is full of what country residents refer to as “citidiots”. City people who have no idea how to drive or park “in the county”. Please do not just pull out in front of people, stop in the mid...  more »

  • I've gone to a few farms in the area and by far the worst experience was at Downey's. Way too crowded, I'd suggest going to Albion orchard's instead. Plus you'll save about half of what it costs to go pretty much anywhere else.
  • Went on a Sunday afternoon and was greeted with a huge crowd - they opened for 30 more minutes past the usual closing hour because of the crazy amount of people that day! This is a super family-friendly place and I mean only family-friendly. It is filled with activities that are for kids and the only one besides the corn maze that caught our attention was the paintball activity, but unfortunately they charge extra on top of the admission and we weren't able to try it out because it was closed before the closing hour. Thought the admission was a little over priced since we only wanted to visit the corn maze - which is great for photos! Wished they would charge separately for the corn maze.
  • Very cute farm. After having such a city lifestyle if you want to distract yourself from the busy Toronto life this place is a nice place to enjoy some fresh apples wine pumpkin picking etc. I know several parents bring their kids here but as an adult I enjoyed my visit to this place. Pro: -Fresh air -pumpkin picking (small & big) -wine sale -fresh pumpkins pie -corn maze -kids activities -free range goats and sheep -big parking Con: -no visa or debit for hot dogs drinks etc. -short ride for the wagon ride -Farm store very busy on weekends
  • 9 of us (adults and kids) went to lunch with Santa today and I must say I am very disappointed in the event today. It was very rushed. The event runs for 1 hour....well it ended 10 mins early. The kids did not even get to talk to Santa (even the Santa mall spends 2 mins talking to the kids). He came round a shook the kids hands....did not even shake all the kids hands. Worst of all my nephew asked Santa a question and Santa blew him off. We have been going to Downey's farms for years for the pumpkin picking events and the kids enjoy the play area always. So for lunch with Santa to be totally not worth it and disappointing seems out of place for the farm. And now we have to take the kids to the mall to see Santa who will take a min and chat to them and answer their questions. Can I suggest Santa put a little more effort into the whole event. We booked the tickets to see you last month and it's all the kids have spoken about since then....even they expected more.
  • Excellent family farm, with excellent, friendly and always happy staff. Caring, loving and always responsive to customer's assistance. Staff is very well tamed and know how to treat children, amazing produce area, tasty autumn and winter treats also summer goods to keep customers satisfied all year round. Fun and exciting Harvest Fest, clean environment with healthy animals that are friendly, and the food is always fresh, with affordable prices.
