  • I reluctantly entered the loop trail on an intensely grey and wet Saturday morning. I am actually surprised I made it into the parkland. It was miserable! I tried to include a companion, but was decli...  more »
  • I walk in and was approached by the geeky little root. I went from production way Skytrain to lunch at COSCO, to meet the Canada goose from the East end of the Burnaby Lake. Along the way, there was a railway level crossing. Immediately after crossing the railroad crossing was passed by freight trains. What is 133-car freight was bound. And associates in Japan unusual black slugs, squirrels again by meeting with Canada Goose Habitat for turtles and you can enjoy the nature. Pier, where about one-third of the entire meet Canada goose. Picked up the bait, had come to see. "Bait do ban" of signs that I did not realize. Road and then came back, got back at shopping at Costco. This day was record high in the pedometer.

  • We parked at the Nature House entrance to the park. The day we were there they had volunteers clearing brush. There was also a host on hand and we had a lovely chat about the birds and the history of ...  more »

  • The trail around the lake is 10km long and takes 2+ hours to complete by fast walk. It's not a super scenic hike as you almost never see the lake itself. But it is in the middle of Burnaby and so convenient to get to. It's worth going around at least once in your life, otherwise just head straight to Piper Spit at main entrance as won't get better views anyway.
  • Bring your kayak and come to the lake! Good and very popular place for people to bring their kayaks and workout. You can catch some fish from the lake as well. There's also soccer stadium, tennis courts, fitness centre, etc.
  • Great place for am easy long run. No hills and soft trails, good scenery. Only downfall is the sound if the freeway traffic.
  • Nice, long, forested walking/running trail surrounds this shallow lake. Piper spit, at the North entrance is a popular birding area and hosts a variety of waterfowl, songbirds, cranes and coots. The lake also has a rowing club near the SW entrance, and an equestrian center and horse trails near the east entrance (Avalon ave.) The lake is not really a swimming lake, though. And although dogs must be leashed in this regional park, there is a fenced-off, municipal, dog-off-leash park near the north (Piper) entrance (piper spit, nature house).
  • A wonderful park within the city. Many birds and wild life around. Great for family outings.
