Hike Tunnel Mountain Trail for a rewarding view of the Canadian Rockies. At a length of 2.3 km (1.4 mi), the sloping trail remains mostly gentle but requires a moderate fitness level for uphill trekking. Once at the top, you'll find a compelling 360-degree view of the surrounding mountains, river valleys, towns, and a golf course. Be sure to check the conditions of the trail before going and take shoes with good traction, as the rocks can get slippery. • This climb is for the adventurous as the incline can be steep in sections. A good hike to the top. Find a clear day to take in the views and vistas from the top, I would caution anyone from accessing ...  read more »
  • The difficulty is that in the book, I went to a beginner. Round 2-hour courses, and hiding in the middle of the car, but it's a relatively easy climb. Tourists but locals also looked quite a bit. Locals rear garden course. Climb to the top, but not enough to impress a pretty decent picture. The time I went to come good on the course if you lightly.

  • The views of Banff from this road are very good, and the higher you go the more the views change. Pulloffs are usually just after a switchback.
  • Easy trail that can be accomplished in an hour to two hours. The view is more than worth the easy pace of the trail. It's right inside Banff, so parking and getting there is not difficult. Very pet, beginner and kid friendly.
  • A great quick hike just within the Banff townsite. You can do this in 40 minutes if you really walk briskly, or take your time and enjoy the view of the town. It's an easy hike and can be done in as little as sandals if you're worried about footwear. There's no tunnel on this mountain, rather it was originally supposed to have the train tunnel drilled through. Those plans changed pretty quickly and the tracks were rerouted.
  • Spectacular views! This 5.7km round trip hiking trail is not hard, although it has some steep spots. The family with small kids can even hike on this trail. The views are amazing when you are facing the Hoodoos mountain! The mountain is completely in frond of your eyes! Amazing!
  • Was told it was a moderate hike... I know I'm out of shape but it felt a bit more difficult than moderate. The payoff is amazing however.
  • Moderately easy hike with some sections a little more uphill than others. Payoff for the length of the hike is great!
